Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

Reading Scarlet for the third time was all kinds of precious. I had forgotten how much I loved this book. I mean, I knew I loved it like crazy, but still. Reading it again just now reminded me of how much I love this book. And why. I'm so glad that I'm re-reading these books right now. They mean so much to me. Sniffs. And Marissa is the most awesome author. I adore her. So excited about all her upcoming books. Anyway. I shall try my best to speak about my love for Scarlet. Which might be difficult. But I will try.

The writing is all kinds of beautiful. And the story is so exciting and fast and heartbreaking and just the very best. I adore all of the characters. Cinder and Kai are still my favorite characters, but, well, I do think that I love all the characters just as much. Because oh, how I loved reading about Scarlet and Wolf again. They are both incredible. And so cute. I adore them so much. And I need more. And knowing what is coming in Cress is breaking my heart. I cannot take it. Yet dying to read Cress again next. Can't wait.

This book is about a new character, Scarlet. But it is still about Cinder, and there is still a lot of point of views from her. And from Kai too. And that was awesome. I love how Marissa managed to write them all into one book. And then even more characters in Cress. And even more in Winter in a few weeks, ack. So excited. But anyway. I love how these books connect. How it is all just one big story, and we get to meet some precious new characters for each book. And oh, how I loved them all. Scarlet was the best.

My favorite part of the book was getting to know Scarlet. She is such an amazing character. I adore her like crazy. Her hair is fierce. And her personality even more so. I love how she stands up for herself and others. How brave she is. How she just wants to save her grandma. And oh, her grandmother. I cannot. My heart is breaking. Reading about that one scene in the prison was the most heartbreaking thing ever. Well, so far. It was so sad. So evil. Yet I loved it like crazy. Her grandma was awesome to read about.

Another favorite part was reading about Scarlet and Wolf together. I loved how they met. The time they spent together. How they got to know each other. And even though they only spent such little time together, they both like the other so much. It is the cutest. Their romance is adorable yet also oh so heartbreaking. Sniffs. I just want them together and happy and in love. Wolf was such an amazing character. I adored reading about him. My heart broke for him too. Sad face. He was so interesting.

Then he was pulling her toward him and bundling her up in his arms.
Scarlet gasped as Wolf buried one hand into her mess of curls and kissed her back.

There was so much that I loved about Scarlet. I don't know how to talk about all of it. It is such an easy book to read. Yet I spent some time dreading what would come, lol, as I already knew it. Yet I loved every moment. It is such an intense book. So much happens. A lot of awful things. And gorgeous things. The plot is all kinds of exciting. And getting to know the characters more was so good too. I also adored getting to know Thorne more. He's an awesome and weird new character in this book. I liked him a lot.

There wasn't much of my precious Kai in Scarlet. But I loved what little there was. He's amazing to read about. But oh, my heart is aching for him all the time. He has no one to love him. No one to help him. Well, he has Torin, whom I liked, but it isn't the same as having someone to care for him. Hmph. I wish for that for Kai a lot in Winter. Fingers crossed. Anyway. I adored reading about all of the characters in this book. They are all amazing, interesting and exciting to read about. Couldn't have loved them more.

I'm not going to say more about Scarlet. I might have said most of this before; I'm not sure. But either way, I wanted to share my thoughts about reading this precious book for the third time. I loved it so much. There books are just the best. The story is so exciting. Ack. If any of you still haven't read Scarlet, then I don't know what you are waiting for. It is such a perfect sequel. One that everyone should read. Right away. I cannot begin to explain to you how much I love these books. I love them the most.

In My Mailbox #209

This week haven't been the best. Well, I got some aaaamazing mail, aka Disney Store, which makes me so happy, but other things have sucked. My health is just awful lately. I think I'm blaming the Imurel pills I'm taking each day. My fingers and hands are hurting all the time, and so I'm a few days behind again on my laptop. I just cannot type much. Even typing just this hurts so badly. Just waiting for hospital trip on the 10th, so that I can ask to quit my medicine. I wish to be done with it. Sigh. Anyway. The Lunar Chronicles #1: Cinder

This is my fourth time reading Cinder. And it is still one of my favorite books. I still love it just as much as I did when I first read it, over three years ago. I haven't read it in over two years, though, so I was a tiny bit nervous, that my feelings might have changed. I worried for nothing. Because reading this book again was simply perfection. And I'm so glad that I finally decided to read it again too. The writing is all kinds of beautiful. The story is the most amazing. And I couldn't have loved Cinder any more than I did.

My love for this book cannot be explained. But I shall try anyway. Despite having talked about it three times before. But then again, my previous reviews kind of sucked, lol, so I shall try to do better this time. I adored reading this book again. It made me so happy. It was so easy to get lost in Cinder again, so easy to read it again. The writing is, as I said, beautiful. I love it the most. This is such an easy book to read. Time went by so fast. And that is just the best feeling. I'm so glad that I still love this the most.

I don't know what to say about this precious book. So I probably won't say all that much. Just. I love it to pieces. I love how it is sort of a retelling of Cinderella, yet totally not as well, since it is so different. I love the setting of this book. Getting to know all the history was so awesome. I loved how they didn't have cars anymore. I loved how they had androids for just about everything. Simply put, I loved every single moment of this book. The story was incredible. The characters are still the very best. Sigh. <3

I cannot wait to re-read the other books too. To get to read more about the new characters about to show up. Ack. I'm oh so excited. The ending for Cinder is all kinds of mean and heartbreaking. And I loved it to most. It's awesome. I should also mention that Cinder is my favorite character. She is all kinds of brave and awesome. Her stepfamily is the worst, and that is that. But oh my, Peony. My heart is still breaking. The most heartbreaking and amazing part of the book. Sniffs. Just loved it all so much.

I need to write a few more things about this book. Cinder is the most awesome. And Prince Kai is just the most adorable. I love him oh so much. And my heart is breaking for him. He is losing so much in this book. It's oh so mean. Hmph. I also adored Iko to pieces. She's an awesome character. Then there was Queen Levana. Well, I liked her in Fairest. Sort of. But oh, how I hate her too. She's just the worst. Yet an excellent villain. Reading about the Lunars is just all kinds of exciting and horrifying. I loved it lots.

The romance in this book is adorable. Okay, there isn't really kissing at all, which is a bit depressing. But there is flirting. And it is the most adorable. Watching Kai flirt with Cinder is so cute. He likes her so much. And she likes him too. And aw. I just adore them both the most. I need Winter right now, though, because I need more romance with them. Sniffs. I need more. I want more. I cannot live without more. Cinder and Kai is my favorite couple in this series. I just can't help but love them the most of everyone.

Before she knew what she was doing, she was storming after Kai.
She grabbed his elbow and spun him back around to face her. Without hesitating,
Cinder wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.

I also very much adore Marissa Meyer. She has always been amazing. She is the kindest person and such an amazing author. I like her oh so much. She's always been so kind to me, and that means the most. <3 Hugs. Thank you for always being the best Marissa. I simply cannot wait to read even more books by her :D I'm a bit crazy about her books, lol, and I know I will read everything that she is writing next. But first re-reading Scarlet and Cress. <3 Then finally Winter. Oh, I have waited so long for it now. Almost here.

If you still haven't read Cinder, I'm not sure what to tell you. You make poor life choices, lol. Because this is not a book to be missed. It is a book that you must read. And then read again and again, like I have. It is a book that will make you feel all the things. It is a book that you will never ever forget. So yes. If you still haven't read Cinder, then get going. You are missing out. I'm the most excited about loving this book. And I want you all to love it too. Just, so thrilled to finally have taken the time to re-read it. <3

Cover Reveal: Siren's Song by Mary Weber

Oh, this cover is gorgeous. I adored book one and two oh so much :D And I am dyyying to read this third book. <3 I must know what happens next. I must. Waiting for March 1st is going to be torture :) I'm just oh so excited for Siren's Song. Months back I read Storm Siren and Siren's Fury. I enjoyed them both a lot. <3 And I think Siren's Song is going the be even more exciting :D Eeeek! I simply cannot wait. It shall be perfect. Cannot wait for more of that aaawesome romance too, hih ;) So excited. And just, oh. This cover is oh so pretty. I cannot wait to own it. It's so beautiful. What do you think of the cover? :)

Nym and Draewulf prepare to face off in a battle destined to destroy more lives than it saves.

With the loss of Tulla still fresh in mind, Rasha’s fate unknown, and Lord Myles taken over by the dark ability, Nym and the few Bron soldiers rush to warn Cashlin’s queen. Only to discover it may already be too late for the monarch and her eerie kingdom. As the Luminescents are sifting through Nym’s past memories and the queen is reading into her future, Nym is given a choice of how to defeat Draewulf, but the cost may be more than she can bear. And even then there are no guarantees.

With that reality burrowing into her bones—along with the guilt of the lives she will sacrifice—Nym returns to her homeland of Faelen to raise an army of peasants through promises of freedom. But when the few friends she has left, along with the world and citizens she loves, are staring down the face of a monster and his undead army, will Nym summon every element her blood is capable of controlling . . . or surrender to a different strength—one of sacrifice?

Because in the end, death may be more merciful for them all.

Cress Tuesday #105

Two years of sharing Cress Tuesday teasers. It have been amazing. <3 I have loved it so much. But yes. I will be stopping the day that Winter comes out, which is just three teasers from now. Ahh. I cannot wait :D Will be sad to not post about Cress anymore, but I'll manage. Probably. I can't wait to re-read Cinder, Scarlet and Cress before Winter comes out. Such a short time left. Oh, how I am excited. As you know, I adore Marissa Meyer. She is all kinds of amazing. She's so kind and sweet. And she writes such perfect books. I have loved all her books and short stories so far. I'm dying to read Winter. <3 See the very gorgeous cover reveal for it here. I'm also dying to read her upcoming book, Heartless, which will be out next November. Oh. I cannot wait. <3 But it has been pushed back. And waiting for it is just going to kill me. Sniffs. I want it now. Also don't forget about the short stories book, Stars Above, coming out. <3 I hope you have all read these books by now. And if not, you really should. I hope you are all enjoying these awesome teasers from Cress :) See all the previous Cress Tuesdays here. <3 So sad to stop.

~

Cinder's fingers twitched, a familiar taste of rebellion. She ached to toss of her glamour,
to yell and scream, to force Adri to see her, the real her, just once. Not the ungrateful,
self-important little girl that Adri thought she was, but the orphan who had always
just wanted a family, who had only wanted to belong somewhere.

But even as she thought this, a darker yearning climbed up her spine. She wanted Adri to be sorry. For how she had treated Cinder like a piece of property. For how she had taken Cinder's prosthetic foot and forced her to hobble around like a broken doll. For how she had taunted Cinder again and again for her inability to cry, her inability to love, her inability to ever be human.

~

Yeah. I want Adri to pay too. Such an awful person. Ack.

Huge thank you to Marissa Meyer and Macmillan Kids for letting me share these gorgeous Cress Tuesday teasers with you all. <3 They are the bestest. Thank you so much. I hope you are all loving the teasers :D I know that I am loving finding them and sharing them with you all. If you haven’t yet read Cress, I hope these teasers are making you more excited about it. <3 I’m sharing all these teasers from my stunning hardcover of Cress. Well, from one of my copies. I might be owning a whole bunch of them :D

Review: The Shrunken Head by Lauren Oliver and H. C. Chester

I had been excited to read this book for a long time. Because I adore middle grade books. And I thought this one looked oh so awesome. So yesterday I finally decided to start it. I did enjoy it a lot. But, sadly, I did not love this book. And that's depressing to me. But I liked it a lot. And I did like most of the characters.

But I just couldn't love it. So I have decided to give it three stars. It wasn't the best book. But it wasn't bad either. I found the writing to be pretty amazing. And the plot was exciting, at times. I liked that it was set long ago, though it is never told which year, which bothered me. I liked reading about the city.

This story is about four children. Thomas and Pippa are both twelve. And I liked them both a lot. Especially Thomas. I loved how he could fit into anything. How he could stretch his body so much. He was a bit weird, but I adored him. He was smart too, which I liked. And Pippa was pretty awesome too. I liked her a lot. Though I would have loved to get to know her gift a bit more. Felt like she could have done much more than she could, so yeah. I hope she learns how to control it. Then there was Sam and Max. Whom I don't know how old they are. And that bothered me too. But Sam was so cute. I liked him a lot. And his gift of strength was so awesome yet awful too. Max was interesting. But I did like her, somewhat :) Loved what her gift was.

I just don't know what to say about this book. I enjoyed reading it a lot. Yet I feel like I will forget it pretty fast, because I didn't love it. Which makes me a bit sad. Hmph. But I liked most of the book, as it did have some awesome parts. Like where these four children live. At a museum of freaks, owned by Mr. Dumfrey. I'm not sure I liked this man much, though he was kind and he took good care of the kids. But the museum I liked a lot. Lots of people lived there too, and they were all interesting to read about.

I liked how the kids grew closer in this book, as it turned out that they had not spent much time together at all before it. Which was a bit sad. But I liked reading about them together, as they grew pretty close, and they spent a lot of time together. They were all pretty adorable. Though some things I disliked, how Pippa and Max kept fighting all the time. It bothered me. It was just so silly too. But I liked how Sam started having feelings for Max. It was pretty cute. Yet too little of it at the same time.

But then there were some things that I didn't like. Like, I liked all the characters a lot. Yet I don't think I loved them at all. I just didn't care that much for any of them. Well, I think I loved Thomas, as he was impossible not to love. But still. I didn't love this book. Which is just so sad. But I liked it a lot. Which I keeps saying, lol. I'm just a bit conflicted about how I felt about it. Wish it had been better. There were a lot of characters in this one. Some I liked. Some I disliked a lot. But they were all interesting. Mostly.

One thing that I didn't like much at all were the mystery part of the book. It was supposed to be exciting and mysterious. Considering there are a lot of dead bodies showing up. Which I liked. But I did not like the mystery part at all. Because everything was so obvious. Yet no one noticed it. And that bothered me so, so much. It should have been exciting. Yet I saw all the twists so early on, as they were so obvious, yet none of the characters noticed it. Not even after it had been revealed. Ugh. It was a bit annoying.

Oh. I had to add one more thing after I finished writing my review. As there was one more thing that I liked a lot about this book. There is some gorgeous artwork inside. And they are all so pretty. I just wish there had been a lot more drawings. As I adore pretty artwork in books. And in this one it was pretty awesome. And the cover is all kinds of gorgeous too. And the book without the cover jacket is oh so beautiful. I adore looking at it. So despite not loving the book, I did love all the art. So much gorgeous.

I'm trying to think about what more to say about this book. I don't think there is much more I want to say about it. It was an easy and fast read. I did like it. But I didn't love it. There was this newspaper in this one, and it bothered me oh so much. So many lies. Yet no one did anything about it. So yeah. A lot of things bothered me. But I do still think that many might enjoy this book. Because it was somewhat adorable too. Thank you to the publisher for the Edelweiss copy, though I waited for my hardcover. <3

I adore Beth Revis. She's amazing and oh so kind. Plus she writes gorgeous books. I have loved everything that I have read by her so far. <3 Which is why I am dying to read A World Without You. It sounds so different. And heartbreaking. And not what I would usually read. But it is Beth. And so I shall read it. And I think I will love it too :D I'm super excited for this book. I think that the cover looks different and awesome and oh so gorgeous. <3 I cannot wait to own this book in July next year. <3 If I'm not able to get a precious ARC copy of this one, which I want very badly :) Anyway. I am dying to read it. It's going to be amazing. Not able to pre-order yet, but soon I hope. What do you think of the cover?

Mini Review: Warm Up by V. E. Schwab

I'm glad that I read this short story. I just read Vicious a few days ago, and I really wanted to read this one too. So happy to say that I liked this short story a lot. But oh, how it is mean. Such an evil ending. I must say that I do not like Eli at all. He has done so many bad things. I hope his ending will be brutal.

Warm Up is a short story that takes place before Vicious. It is about this man, David. Who died 297 days ago, then came back. But with powers. And ahh, I liked reading about David a lot. Though this one was so short. Hmph. Yet so awesome too. David seemed like an awesome man. My heart broke for him.

This is not a happy story. David has been living alone for all those days, as his wife and child left him. Which was pretty sad to read about. But I understood them too. But still. She should not have left him. This story is about how David haven't left his house for months, and is now finally deciding to do so. It does not end well. Which just makes me so sad, because it started so well. How mean. I won't say more than this, just that Warm Up was all kinds of awesome. I loved the writing. And I loved the story. Victoria is the bestest. I can't wait to read even more books by her :) But yeah. This short story was the shortest. Sad face. But so amazing. Go read it. I loved reading about David's power. It was so awesome and scary and I loved it.

Cover Reveal: This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab

Oh my gosh, I'm excited for this book. It looks gorgeous. And it sounds AMAZING :D And it is Victoria. So I know it will be the very best, lol. I simply cannot wait. A bit sad, as it was supposed to come out on May 3rd, my birthday, but it has now been pushed back to June 7th. Hmph. Oh, well :D I'm not too upset about it; as I will still get to read this precious book. It's going to be oh so amazing. It sounds so good. And awesome. And exciting. And oh my gosh, I want this book so badly. It's going to be SO PERFECT. Plus side, it is a Harper book, so I think it will be up on Edelweiss sometime. <3 Fingers crossed for that. I would read it in a heartbeat, if I could. A bit sad, though, because Victoria told me there is zero romance in this one. Sniffs. But that there might be in book two. So yeah. I'm not that upset about it :D I know I will love it no matter what. Just wish I could read it right away. What do you think of the cover?

The city of Verity has been overrun with monsters, born from the worst of human evil. In North Verity, the Corsai and the Malchai run free. Under the rule of Callum Harker, the monsters kill any human who has not paid for protection. In the South, Henry Flynn hunts the monsters who cross the border into his territory, aided by the most dangerous and darkest monsters of them all—the Sunai, dark creatures who use music to steal their victim’s souls.

As one of only three Sunai in existence, August Flynn has always wanted to play a bigger role in the war between the north and the south. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate Harker, daughter of the leader of North Verity, August jumps on it.
When Kate discovers August’s secret, the pair find themselves running for their lives and battling monsters from both sides of the wall. As the city dissolves into chaos, it’s up to them to foster a peace between monsters and humans.

A unique, fast-paced adventure that looks at the monsters we face every day—including the monster within.

Review: Vicious by V. E. Schwab

I have been meaning to read this book for a long time. As I adore Victoria. She's an awesome person and author. And I thought Vicious sounded like an amazing book. Happy to say that I enjoyed it a lot. Was nervous about reading it, as I don't read adult books at all. So feared I wouldn't like it. But I did :)

But oh, how do I even begin to talk about this book. It was different. And I had some issues with the beginning. But I ended up loving it and ended up enjoying the writing a lot. The last part, almost half, of the book was so so exciting. I was so worried. And it was a lot of fun too. So yeah. I liked this book.

I have decided to give Vicious four stars. Not five, because I had some issues at times, but still four, because I liked it a lot, and the story was exciting, and I adored all the characters. Well, except for a few awful ones. But for the most part this book was all kinds of awesome. Not the best one, yet I'm so glad I read it, because I did like it a lot. And I do adore the author a lot too. Anyway. This book takes place over three days. Most on the third one. But there are also a lot of long sort-of flashbacks to other times, like ten years ago and one year ago and so on. I liked those flashbacks a lot too. Well, most of them were pretty exciting and interesting. I enjoyed reading all of them. The writing was awesome. Characters the best.

Then there were the characters in this one. The story is centered around Victor and Eli, former best friends. It has been ten years since they last saw each other; and Victor have been in jail all this time. Sad face. So he is now thirty two years old. Which bothered me a bit, but I didn't mind all that much, as I did grow to like him a whole lot. He is my second favorite person. And he's a good person. Sure, he might be a bit awful, and hurts some people, yet he isn't a mean person. I thought he was awesome.

And then there was Eli. Sigh. I'm not sure what I thought about him. Okay, fine, that is a lie. I know what I thought of him. And it wasn't anything nice. I didn't like this man at all. He murdered so many people. And not for a good reason even. And he turned Victor in to the police. So not okay. And I just. I didn't like Eli at all. He killed so many people. He even tried to kill precious Sydney. Hmph. He also goes on and on about God in his mind. I didn't like that at all. Oh, well. I'm pretty okay with not liking him :)

Precious Sydney. She is the character I loved the most. And she is just about to turn thirteen years old. So young. And already gotten so broken. I cannot. Reading about her was the most interesting parts of this book, and I loved it so much. Loved getting to know her. And her past. And her truly crazy sister, Serena. Whom I hated. A lot. But she was interesting. Her powers were exciting, yet so wrong. I didn't like her much at all. Hmph. But Sydney. She was the cutest. And I wish to get to know her much more.

"Sydney, look at me." He rested his hands on the car roof and leaned in. "No one is going to hurt you.
Do you know why?" She shook her head, and Victor smiled. "Because I'll hurt them first."

There were a bunch of other characters in this book too. And I liked reading about them all. Especially Mitch, whom Victor was in jail with. He was just so awesome. And getting to know him was so great. I wish to read more about him as well. He was a great friend. Big and soft. I adored him. A new character at the end of the book was Dominic. And he was so interesting to get to know a little bit. His powers especially. I wish to get to know him more, I think. But worried after that ending. Ack. It was so bloody.

And now I shall try to talk a little bit about the plot in this book. It is about villains and heroes. About how Eli thinks he's a hero, yet I'm pretty sure he is the biggest villain there is. And lots of other things too. This book is about superpowers. About two college roommates researching and wanting to try get powers on their own. It was a bit confusing in the beginning, yet still interesting. I liked knowing how they got their powers. And who died while it happened. Just, how it was done. It was written pretty well.

The story in this one is about Victor having broken out of jail. About him wanting revenge on Eli, wanting him dead, for getting him locked up. And I don't blame him one bit. I liked how they interacted. How they thought about each other. But yeah. I want Eli dead so badly. He's just an awful person. Sure, I'm interested in getting to know more about him, but he is such a villain. Shudders. Anyway. I loved seeing how Victor met Sydney. I liked how sort-of close they became. I just adored them all so much.

I'm not going to say more about this book. I just have so many thoughts about it. I had some issues with the writing in the beginning, with focusing, but I got past it, and ended up enjoying the book a lot. The plot was exciting. The characters were awesome. I adored reading about the different superpowers. So awesome. Vicious was a brilliant book. I enjoyed reading it so much. I cannot wait to read the sequel as well. Hope it will be out soon :D Anyway. You should read this book. Curious to know what you all think.

"Once upon a different time, there was a girl who lived in a kingdom of death. Wolves howled up her arm. A whole pack of them--made of tattoo ink and pain, memory and loss. It was the only thing about her that ever stayed the same.

Her story begins on a train."

And so begins the story of Yael, a girl who can change her appearance to mimic any other female. A girl who must win a 20,000 kilometer cross-continental motorcycle race from Germania to Tokyo so that she can have an audience with Adolf Hitler. A girl who has every intention of killing him.

Whenever I describe the premise of WOLF BY WOLF to people, the reactions I get are quite similar. It's the "are-you-insane-or-are-you-onto-something" face: dropped jaw, squiggly eyebrows. I must admit, I felt many of those same feelings when I first started penning Yael's story. Alternate history + sci-fi + epic motorcycle journey felt like a strange recipe for a novel. But I pushed through my fears and kept writing, and I couldn't be happier with the result. I, for one, don't think I'm insane, but I'll let you, dear reader, come up with your own conclusion.

Happy reading!

Code Name Verity meets Inglourious Basterds in this fast-paced novel from the author of The Walled City.

The year is 1956, and the Axis powers of the Third Reich and Imperial Japan rule the world. To commemorate their Great Victory over Britain and Russia, Hitler and Emperor Hirohito host the Axis Tour: an annual motorcycle race across their conjoined continents. The victor is awarded an audience with the highly reclusive Adolf Hitler at the Victor's ball.

Yael, who escaped from a death camp, has one goal: Win the race and kill Hitler. A survivor of painful human experimentation, Yael has the power to skinshift and must complete her mission by impersonating last year's only female victor, Adele Wolfe. This deception becomes more difficult when Felix, Adele twin's brother, and Luka, her former love interest, enter the race and watch Yael's every move. But as Yael begins to get closer to the other competitors, can she bring herself to be as ruthless as she needs to be to avoid discovery and complete her mission?
