Review: The Fall by Bethany Griffin

I knew when I first read about this book that I would most likely love it. And then I was able to read it early. Took me some weeks to be brave enough to start it, but today I really wanted to. So I did. And I was not able to stop reading. A few small things bothered me, but for the most part I loved this book.

I probably won't be able to get my thoughts quite together for this review. As I'm not sure what I should share and what I should not share. I just want to talk about that ending. I want to talk about those deaths. I want to talk about all that horror. And the few gorgeous relationships that ended way too soon. Ack.

First I want to say that I really loved the writing in this book. I found it to be stunning. And I really loved reading about Madeline. I found her to be an amazing character. And I loved that the book is from her point of view. She's a bit crazy. Yet so adorable. I wish we had known even more about her. Well, that there had been more to know. Yet I still managed to love her. At first I thought I wouldn't like how this book was written. With a lot of it told from the past. When Madeline was Ten. Thirteen. Fifteen. A lot of different ages. And I loved reading all of them. The chapters are really short. Yet also really amazing. Most of the book is when she is Seventeen and Eighteen. And oh. I loved those the most. But I did love all the chapters.

Madeline has a twin brother. Roderick. At first I thought he was younger than her. But then he was her twin. And I loved that part even more. They were so close as children. But then he got sent away to school at age ten. And it broke my heart. Because he is so distant. He isn't there for Madeline. And it hurt. I wanted him to care more. But thing is, I do not doubt that he loves her more than anything. Yet he still left her alone in that house. Which bothered me. Sigh. Still. I did love her brother a whole lot.

Madeline Usher's family is cursed. The house they live in is cursed. They can never truly leave. And ohh. This book is creepy! So damn creepy. And awful. And just perfect at the same time. I really loved it. A lot of the book focus on the curse. On this house. And I loved that. I loved learning more about it. Though it was creepy. I felt like I could have known more about the curse, but at the same time I think I know how it started. The dream she had about the first Usher. Shudders. So awful. So very perfect.

There are a lot of relationships in this book. And some confused me. Some I hated. A few I wanted more about. First Madeline and Roderick. I wanted them to be closer near the end. That broke my heart. Yet I loved reading about their relationship. So real and honest. I adored them. We see a little bit of a girl named Emily. Not enough. Sobs. But enough for me to love her a little. She was pretty amazing. And the dog. Cassandra. Oh. So big and loyal and loving. I really loved reading about this dog. So protective.

Then there are the doctors in this house. As there are many of them living there. They keep checking Madeline. Seeing her naked all the time, I think. That grossed me out. Especially when a new doctor arrived. Dr. Winston. He was very young. And handsome. And Madeline kind of liked him a little. And it was not okay with me. I didn't like him. And he just got more and more creepy. To me, that is, lol. Yet he needed to be a part of the story. I think. Probably. He was interesting to read about at least. Kind of.

We learn a little bit about Roderick at school. His best friend, Noah. Whom we get to meet a couple of times. And near the ending. Swoon. I ended up loving him a whole lot. But oh. I felt like I didn't get to know him nearly enough. Not enough at all. I want a sequel with him. <3 Fingers crossed. Anyway. I'm not sure what to say about romance in this book. A little bit? It didn't bother me that much. Because I loved the book so much. I loved Madeline so much. Mostly I just loved all of it very much, lol. So good.

I don't want to say much more about this book. I don't want to give away the plot. Though not all that much happens. There are a lot of small things. A lot of creepy things. Awful things. Horrible things. And they were all amazing to read about. This book scared me a little. And I loved every moment. I'm just so glad that I read it. I just never wanted it to end. Okay. That ending. I did love it. But I also felt it was a bit sudden. I want a bit more. So I'm still hoping for a sequel. <3 Would really, really love to read one.

Huge thank you to Greenwillow Books / HarperTeen for the auto approval on Edelweiss that made me able to read and review The Fall early. <3 I'm so glad that I did. Because I loved it. And I cannot wait to own it as well. I found The Fall to be a beautiful book. Full of mystery, horror and a few sweet moments. It was a truly stunning novel. And I cannot wait to read even more by Bethany. <3 She is amazing. Anyway. You all need to read this book. It comes out in October. So go pre-order it right away. <3

Review: Monstrous by MarcyKate Connolly

I'm not sure how to put my thoughts into words about this book. Most of the time I loved it. Most of the time it broke my heart. A lot of the time it made me smile. But I had a few small issues in the beginning. But then it got better for me. And so good too. But then that ending happened. And my heart will not heal.

Yet I also loved it so much. I'm rating it with a four star. Though most of the time it was a five star read for me. Especially the last half of the book. Because oh. This book was really good. So dark. So creepy. So heartbreaking. Yet also sweet and the same time. I'm really glad I got to read Monstrous early. I loved it.

The reason for why I'm giving this book a four star is because I had a few small issues in the beginning of the book. I didn't like the writing. Okay, I just didn't like the way Kymera was thinking. But then it was also done well, as she was just made. Just woke up. And she wouldn't have been able to think the best way. But it bothered me a little bit. But then later on I got used to the writing, and it did not bother me at all. <3 And I didn't mind that much, as I adored Kymera. She was a bit innocent and a bit dumb at first. But she was also so sweet and honest and kind. I just loved her all the time. One thing that bothers me a little bit. I don't know how old she is. The cover makes me think middle grade. But the writing makes me think young adult. And I'm kind of guessing she's above fifteen. But I don't know. And it don't matter. I loved her.

I'm just not sure what I should include in my review. I want to talk about it all. Yet I don't want to spoil this book or give away the surprises. Because there are a lot of things happening in this book. So much. So many awful things. There are a lot of death in Monstrous. And I loved every moment. But it's awful. And heartbreaking. Yet so real. And I'm glad the author wrote it this way. As I do love a great awful and heartbreaking book, lol. And it was so good as well. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was perfect.

It is told from the point of view of Kymera. And like I said, I really loved her. She was amazing to read about. The thing about her it that she was made by her father. She was made with a tail and wings and claws. And I loved every part of her. It was so interesting to read about. Yet also a bit creepy. Especially when reading about her father. About how he made her. And slowly learning more about him as well. Ack. But I did love that he created Kymera. She was special. And I adored her so much. She's awesome.

I will not say that much about the plot in this book. There is a wizard. He is making girls sick and later he kills them. It is awful. And so heartbreaking. Yet done so well and I kind of loved reading about it. A lot of the book focus on Kymera going out to rescue the girls. It is a very interesting plot line. And I loved reading about all the surprises and mysteries. Some things I saw coming. Yet they still surprised me. And I loved reading about it all. Though yes. There are so many sad parts in this book. Sniffs.

While Kymera is rescuing the girls she meets a boy. Though her father has forbidden her to talk to anyone; forbidden her to let anyone see her. But she talks to Ren. She gets to know him. And I loved reading about them together. Sniffs. I do think there could have been a great romance if this book had been longer. And I wanted it so much. But I also loved reading their friendship. And the betrayals. I didn't like this one betrayal from Ren. Yet I also fully understood it. Still, it did hurt my heart a little bit.

There is just so much in this book. Talk of dragons. Sea creatures. I loved reading about that place over the mountains. I would have loved to read more about that too. And the creature in the sea. Shudders. So awful. So fascinating. I want more of that one, lol. There are many characters in this book too. Some I liked. Some I hated. They were all interesting to read about. But sigh. I do wish more people had loved Kymera. Despite her looking like a monster. I wanted them to love her. To be friends with her. Sniffs.

I won't say much more about Monstrous. Just that I really loved it. And I'm glad that I read it. Despite all the heartache it has given me, hih. This book also made me happy. And scared. And worried. I loved it. And I could not stop reading it. I didn't want to stop. And I want to share all the spoilers. To talk about all of it. But I will not :D Just saying how good it was. <3 And surprising. The ending is still surprising me. So sad. So good. I'm just really glad that I read Monstrous. Because I did adore it a whole lot.

I'm not sure I can deal with the ending for this book. My heart is breaking. SOBS. Yet it was also a fitting ending. It was right with the story. And I do think the book needed to end that way. But I didn't want it to, lol. I wanted a little bit more. As in, a little bit of romance as well, hiih. But I'll forgive it. Someday. When the pain isn't killing me a little. I also need to get better at peeking when I peek at book endings. I didn't see this coming. I should have. It broke me. But I also loved it. Which is a bit weird for me.

Monstrous doesn't come out until February next year. But I just could not wait to read it when I saw it on Edelweiss. I needed it right away. And I'm so glad that I did. Because Monstrous was a stunning book. Full of heartbreak and discovery and sweetness. It broke my heart into a million pieces. And I loved every moment of it. So yes. I really need you all to pre-order this book. Or buy it when it comes out. And then you all need to read it. Because it truly was a stunning book. And I think you'll all love it. Truly.

Huge thank you to HarperCollins Children's Books via Edelweiss for letting me read and review Monstrous early. <3 I'm so glad I had the chance to. And I just cannot wait to own it in hardcover. It will be such a stunning book. I mean, really, just look at that cover. Sigh. It is gorgeous. I love Kymera. And her tail. And oh. She's just so pretty. Yes. I cannot wait to finally own this book. I needs it. I will also re-read it someday, when my heart has healed from that ending, lol. When I forgive it as well :D Hopefully soon.

I love sharing these Cress Tuesday teasers with you all each week. Because it makes me remember my love for this book. And my love is huge. Sigh. Cress is just such a perfect book. As far as the people of Luna and Earth knew, Selene had died thirteen years ago.
Levana was going to make sure it stayed that way.
She was the rightful queen of Luna. Of Earth. Of the entire galaxy.
No one would take that from her.

~

Ack. I love reading about Levana. I cannot wait to know even more about her in Fairest :D

Was allowed to do this by Marissa and Macmillan; Thank you. <3 Marissa is the best. Check out her amazing website :D I'm also very much in love with the Lunar Chronicles facebook. So pretty. Review: The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O'Brien

Oh, I tried. I really did try to love this book. But seriously. I could not. Not at all. I'm sorry to say that I didn't like this book one bit. And my review will most likely not be all that positive. Just saying. As I'm also giving this book a one star rating. If it weren't for my print ARC, I would not have finished the book.

I will try my best to explain how everything went wrong in this book. But honestly, I just want to forget about it all. And that ending was fucked up. Truly. So there should be a sequel. But it isn't confirmed yet, I think, but yeah. You cannot end a book like that. You can't. Well, unless she died. But I don't think so.

I just really wanted to love this book. But I knew when I peeked weeks ago that I would not. But I still gave it a try. Which I kind of regret. But still glad I managed to read the whole book. It just makes me sad. Because I wanted this book to be amazing. I have read other books by this author. A few I loved. A few I really disliked. So it's been a bit up and down. While this book was very, very down. There was just nothing I liked about it. Nothing. I could have loved Linus. But even he wasn't written well enough. I barely knew anything about him. And it wasn't enough. I'm sorry, but there were too many things to hate in this book. At least for me. I should say that I understand why some love it, but honestly, I don't. Because to me, it was awful.

First issue with this book. It has a weird beginning. I don't know anything about the world. I don't know that much about the main character either. I don't know enough about the school she had been in for nine days already. To me, it started in the wrong place. Sigh. And I knew from the very beginning that I did not like the writing. At all. Sniffs. It just felt so wrong. I didn't connect to anything. It felt like the girl was just telling us what happened. I got no feelings from anything. Which was very depressing.

Another thing was that this book is set in 2066. Seriously? I don't get that at all. Not a single part of the book said "future" to me. It felt more like the past. Nothing seemed different than it is now, which I know it will be in the future. So yes. That disappointed me too. Because seriously. This whole book is focused on this school. Where all the kids are being filmed 12 hours a day, and are getting sleeping pills and sleeping for the other 12 hours. It was fucked up. And boring. And way too much drama all the time.

I really wanted to like the main character. Rosie. But I didn't. I didn't connect to her at all. First, she spent the first nine days talking to no one. And then fifty people are going to get cut from the school. And now she's suddenly making friends with so many. She went through a lot of personality changes in this book. And I didn't like any of them. We see a bit of her past. Her family. I felt nothing. Nothing at all. Her stepdad is supposed to be mean and hit her. I felt nothing. He was described as two people.

There was just so much that pissed me off in this book. I just didn't like it. I didn't like reading it. I didn't like Rosie. I didn't like the other characters. I wanted to love Linus. I didn't. And suddenly there is a romance there. They are kissing. A lot. But they only kiss. They barely talk. They don't talk about themselves. They don't share things. My god. I did not like this romance one bit. And that made me even more sad. Oh, and there could even be a love triangle. Who knows. It wasn't in this book, though.

The plot. I cannot with the plot in this book. It kind of.. sucked? Yeah, it could have been interesting sometimes. But I didn't care. It wasn't enough. It wasn't done well enough. And Rosie acted like a crazy person so many times. And she changed so often. Oh, and she hears a voice in her head near the end. Which she tells no one about. That pissed me off too. And the school. Seriously. It was beyond boring. It wasn't interesting at all. Well, it could have been, probably. But I just did not care. I didn't care one bit.

The Vault of Dreamers was supposed to be creepy and scary, I suppose. But it wasn't. To me, it was silly. And I didn't like it. I wanted to, but I didn't. And that ending. Ugh. How much timed had passed in that last chapter? Weeks? YEARS? That is what pissed me off the most. It was a cruel ending. Not that I would want to read a book two. Sigh. But I wanted more from the ending. I expected more. But I didn't get anything that I expected from this book. Which makes me sad. But it is what it is. I did not like it.

Huge thank you to Ksenia at Macmillan Kids for the print ARC of this book. <3 I'm so sorry that I didn't like it. Sigh. But. My copy is gorgeous, hih. And I will always love that I were able to read and review it early. But yeah. I did not like this book. And I will always be honest, no matter how I get the book. So I'm not sure I can honestly say that I want anyone to read this. Because I mostly hated it. But I am curious. I am curious if there are someone who will feel the same as I did. So you must let me know if you read it.

Cover Reveal: Unchanged by Jessica Brody

Oh. I am conflicted. Okay, fine, I'm extremely excited for Unchanged. And this cover is so damn stunning. I cannot wait to own it. <3 I did mostly love Unremembered and Unforgotten. They were stunning and exciting. With this gorgeous romance. Sigh. But then. Then there was book two. And a love triangle was added. And my heart is breaking and I'm so sad and a little angry. But I have hope too. I have hope that Jessica will handle this well. <3 Okay, I beg her to, lol. Because this summary? It do make me excited for the book. As I NEED to know how it all ends. So excited. But. Months? She has been months with that damn boy? This is probably silly of me, but if she has slept with him I will never ever forgive her. Not ever. Because it was kind of a big deal for her and Zen. And if it happens with that other guy, it would kill me. Which might be weird, hih, but I feel strongly about it. But I have hope, like I said. So yes. I am very excited for Unchanged :) I just adore this cover. <3 What do you think of the cover?

Review: The Cure for Dreaming by Cat Winters

Oh, how I am glad that I got to read this book early. Because I have been dying to read it for months and months. I always knew that I would love this book. Because I loved In the Shadow of Blackbirds by the same author. And I adore Cat. She is the best. But oh, how I am so happy that I did love this book. <3

I will try my best to explain why I loved this book. Because there are many reasons. Yet I don't want to spoil anything. As this book was stunning. And exciting. And full of surprises. And oh. It was heartbreaking too. Not as heartbreaking as Blackbirds, but still heartbreaking enough. And oh so good as well. Sigh.

I honestly loved every part of The Cure for Dreaming. It was exciting, fun, heartbreaking and romantic. It's full of mystery and darkness too. It was all kinds of perfect. Cat Winters is an amazing author. And I cannot wait to read all her upcoming books. <3 Because I know I will love anything that she writes. Though, hih, what I want the most is a sequel to this book. <3 I loved the ending. I did. It was perfect for the characters. But it also broke my heart a little, as it wasn't as happy as I wanted, lol. But it was perfect. So perfect. But yes. I need to know what happens next. So I'm holding out hope for a sequel. <3 More of Henry would be perfect. As I could never tire of reading about him. And Olivia too. I would love to read more of them.

The book is told from the point of view of Olivia. Whom I adored. She was such a great person. Sigh. I loved reading about her. About her life. And her awesome friend. I adored her too. I found Olivia to be strong and kind and loving. She was awesome. But then there is her dad. And my god. I could not deal with him. He was beyond awful. I didn't like him one bit. How he treated Olivia. What he made Henry do to her. Not fair at all. I just wanted to punch him all the time, lol. So yes. I did not like her father at all.

This story takes place in 1900. And I won't say much more than that. Just that I found it an awesome time period to have a book in. And I want Cat to write more books from this time. As she is extraordinary at it. Anyway. A lot of this book focus on hypnosis. And I loved that. I loved that so much. It was fun to read about. But also heartbreaking and evil. Ack. As Henry is full of talent. And Olivia's dad pays him to hypnotize Olivia. And oh. It's kind of awful. Yet so perfect at the same time. I loved it.

I won't say much more than that about the plot. Just that it is stunning. And so fun to read. And I wanted more and more. I did not want this book to end. Not at all. Sigh. I loved that Olivia wanted women to have a right to vote. And I loved that this book focus a lot on that too. It was interesting to read about. Yet also a bit sad. Sigh. I would not have been able to live at that time, hih. I'm not a housewife at all. And I didn't want Olivia to be one either. Which is why I loved the ending. It was good.

I should mention the romance now, I think. I don't want to spoil it, but I feel like I should mention a few things. Like Percy. He seemed like he would be the love interest. But my god. I didn't like him at all. He was such an awful person. And I'm glad nothing more happened. He was not right for Olivia at all. Sigh. But then there is Henry. And oh. I loved getting to know him more. Such a sad backstory. So sad with his sister probably dying. Sobs. But I loved reading about Henry. So much. And their slow romance. Sigh.

I will not say more about this book. Well, not much more :D Just that I loved The Cure for Dreaming to pieces. I found it to be so good. And I cannot wait to read it again and again. <3 Because yeah. This book needs to be read often. I loved reading about this time period. I loved reading about Olivia. And Henry. Sigh. So much love. I loved reading about Olivia's love for Dracula. I just loved every part of this book. Thank you, Cat, for writing such a stunning book. <3 I'm so thrilled that I loved this book so much.

I would recommend this book to everyone. As I feel like you should all read and love The Cure for Dreaming. Because it was honestly a perfect book. The writing is gorgeous. Which I knew it would be. And the story is full of heart and so perfect. And the characters. Sigh. Cat is amazing at writing characters that I fall in love with. So yes. You should all go pre-order this book right away. Because you will need to read it when it comes out in October. It will be worth it. And I need to know you loved it too.

The biggest thank you to Abrams & Chronicle UK for the print ARC of this perfect book. <3 Thank you thank you thank you. I'm so glad that I got to read The Cure for Dreaming early. And I cannot wait to read it again. <3 So excited for my hardcovers to arrive in October :D They will look stunning. As this print ARC was so damn beautiful. Such gorgeous art. I loved the pictures inside. So awesome. And such a soft book too. Ack. I loved that. Yeah. This book was just all kinds of perfect. Loved it so much. <3

But some of the fever’s survivors are rumored to possess more than just scars—they are believed to have mysterious and powerful gifts, and though their identities remain secret, they have come to be called the Young Elites.

Teren Santoro works for the king. As Leader of the Inquisition Axis, it is his job to seek out the Young Elites, to destroy them before they destroy the nation. He believes the Young Elites to be dangerous and vengeful, but it’s Teren who may possess the darkest secret of all.

Enzo Valenciano is a member of the Dagger Society. This secret sect of Young Elites seeks out others like them before the Inquisition Axis can. But when the Daggers find Adelina, they discover someone with powers like they’ve never seen.
Adelina wants to believe Enzo is on her side, and that Teren is the true enemy. But the lives of these three will collide in unexpected ways, as each fights a very different and personal battle. But of one thing they are all certain: Adelina has abilities that shouldn’t belong in this world. A vengeful blackness in her heart. And a desire to destroy all who dare to cross her.

It is my turn to use. My turn to hurt.

Cress Tuesday #39

I love sharing these Cress Tuesday teasers with you all each week. Because it makes me remember my love for this book. And my love is huge. Sigh. Cress is just such a perfect book. Now I'm just waiting for Winter to come out. And it kills me a little that it isn't out until November 2015. The wait will be long. But also worth it. Going to continue with these teasers for ages, most likely, lol. As I love doing them. Hope you do too. It makes me even more excited to be re-reading the three books in the near future. Hopefully I'll have the time for that soon, as I need to re-read more about Cinder and Kai, hih. <3 Anyway. If you haven't yet had the chance to read Cress, I'm hoping these teasers will convince you to do that :) If you have read it, I hope these teasers reminds you about how amazing this book was. Sigh. See previous Cress Tuesdays here. <3 Hope you are enjoying these (mostly) non-spoilery teasers :)

His ears grew hot, and he felt as if he'd just been caught hoarding something
strange and overly intimate. Something that didn't belong to him.

Review: Midnight Thief by Livia Blackburne

This book surprised me. I bought it because I thought I would like it. And then I got accepted on NetGalley about a month before release as well. But I didn't read it. I'm not sure why. I just didn't feel like it, despite thinking I would like it. But I'm glad I waited for my hardcover. As it was better to read, hih.

Thing is, I had some issues with the beginning of this book. Which I will try to explain. But then. The last half of the book. I liked it so much. I found it to be exciting and amazing. Which is why I'm rating this book a four star. Thought about rating it with three stars, but then, I did love the last parts of the book. Sigh.

I'm going to start with the beginning. I had issues with it. And I really thought I wouldn't like this book. I didn't manage to connect at all. And I was worried. I was worried because main character, Kyra, was spending time with this older man, James. And my god. I didn't like him at all. But she did. And it disgusted me a little. As he was probably above thirty. And she was maybe seventeen. And to me, it didn't feel right at all. Especially as there was nothing to like about James. He was not a good person. Not kind. Not handsome. Not a good man. Sigh. But it changed. The book changed. And I started liking it more. Which surprised me. I didn't think I would grow to care for it. But I did. And I'm so happy. Because I mostly loved Midnight Thief.

I'm just trying to think of what to say. I won't talk more about the beginning. Just that I didn't like it much. And I'm not sure why. I just had issues with it. Sigh. But I'm glad I decided to stick with the book. Because it did get better. And I did start loving Kyra more. And Tristam. Sigh. And the plot. The story was very good in this book. Not so much in the beginning, but it got so much better. And I loved reading about everything. I grew to like the writing. Which pleased me, hih. As it doesn't happen that often.

Midnight Thief is told from two different point of views. At first I thought it would bother me, but then I started loving them both. And wanted to read from them both. Which was a good thing. As Kyra and Tristam were amazing. Sigh. I adored Kyra. I loved reading about her past. And her present. How she grew up. Sniffs. Not all that awful, but still heartbreaking. I just wanted her to be happy. And I loved reading about her friends. Like Flick. Thought there might be romance, but, thankfully, none at all.

Then there is Tristam. And hm. I just realized that we don't get to know all that much about him. Or wait. There might just not have been that much to know. But I still managed to love him. He was awesome to read about. And oh, how I wanted the romance between him and Kyra. It is a little bit. But not that much. But still enough to make my heart happy. I just need book two; because I have such high hopes for Tristam and Kyra. <3 As long as there is no triangle. I just want their romance so much, hih.

There is a lot of story in this book. I won't share all of it. Just that it involves Kyra being a thief. Which was kind of awesome. And it involves demon cats. And my god. That was an awesome plot twist. And so good. I loved reading about it. And I loved how Kyra reacted and how she chose to act. And oh. I just need to know more. I cannot wait for the sequel. Because Midnight Thief was a stunning book. It was full of mystery and excitement. With a hint of good romance. I'm so glad that I read it. And loved it. <3

I will not say much more about this book. Just that I ended up really liking it and that it surprised me a little. But in a good way. And now I cannot wait for book two. I need it right away, please. <3 I did like the ending, for the most part. I just need to know what happens next, lol. I'm glad I read this book. I read my hardcover, but huge thank you to Disney Hyperion for accepting my request on NetGalley. <3 And oh. I do think you should all read Midnight Thief. It's awesome. Despite my issues with the beginning :)

Review: The Glass Sentence by S. E. Grove

I'm glad I decided to buy this book. And glad I decided to read it now too. Because The Glass Sentence was a stunning book. Full of adventure and mysteries and heartbreak. I really loved it. For the most part. I had a few small issues, but nothing too big. Mostly I found this to be an amazing middle grade book. <3

First I want to mention the very gorgeous cover. First there is the book jacket, which is stunning, as you see in the picture. The jacket is very thin. And unique. I love it. And then below is the very gorgeous book. And a very different cover too. It is stunning. And creepy. It fits very well with the story. I love it.

I have so much to say about this book that I don't know where to start. And I'm not sure what I should say. So I will start with the rating. I'm giving this book a four star. Sometimes it was a five star. But I'm going with a four star, because while I loved it, I had a few issues with how it was written. I did love the writing. I felt connected to Sophia. But it is also a lot of details at times. And it made my mind wander and I couldn't focus all the time, hih. But I did love it at the same time. Hm. I would say most of the book is told from Sophia, but not always. We see other things too, which confused me a little, but I liked it. Just, not fully loved it.

I don't want to say too much about the plot. Just that it is pretty awesome. A lot of things happen, yet also not enough exciting things for me. I kind of wanted a bit more. But I also loved everything that I read. I loved reading about Sophia, who is thirteen. She's adorable. And I loved that she can't keep track of time. She was amazing. And I cannot wait to get to know her even more. And her uncle. Hm. I didn't fully love him, but I did like reading about him. He was mostly interesting. And not a bad man. I think.

There is many things happening in the beginning of the book, before the adventure starts. There is a lot taking place in their home. But I didn't mind that at all. Because it was interesting. And I loved reading about the world in this book. So unique and amazing. It was awesome to read about the different Ages. How the world was in this book. It was all kinds of cool. And I won't describe it more than that. Just that it was so good to read about and I'm so curious and I need to know even more. Next book now, please.

So much happens in The Glass Sentence. There are pirates. Trains. Ships. It is all very fun. But also very heartbreaking. A lot of awful things happen in this book. And I loved reading about it all. Like the Lachrima. My gosh. They were awful to read about. So heartbreaking and sad. Yet so awesome too. I loved it. And the Sandmen. Ack! I need to know what happens to them. I need more of them in the sequel. It was horrible. Shudders. Yet so amazing to read about. But I need to know more. I really do.

There are many characters in this book. And I loved reading about them all. But mostly I loved Sophia. And her new friend, Theo. Sigh. Sure, he lies a lot. But he also had a hard past. Not all that broken, but still. I adored him. He was fun and cute. A few years older than Sophia. And oh, how I want this romance, lol. I need it. And I need to know more about Theo. He was very interesting to read about. And I need more of the friendship between them. Just so cute. Ack. I just need book two now, hih.

What I loved the most about this book is the ending. It is amazing. And oh, how I need the sequel. Right away, please. I need to know what happens next. It is kind of a cliffhanger, but not a bad kind. It's good. And oh. How I want Sophia and Theo to be together, hih. <3 They are just too adorable to read about. And I ship them so much. Ack. I just wanted them to kiss, lol. So that I will hope for a lot in the sequel. Sigh. And so excited about the new adventure that I know is coming. Oh, how I truly need book two. <3

I think you should all read The Glass Sentence. Because it truly is a great book. And I really did love it. I just cannot wait for the next books. And I fear the wait will be long for me. But also worth it. I have such high hopes. Exciting to see them look for Sophia's parents. Excited to see more of the very small romance between Sophia and Theo. Just so adorable and I need it, hih. I just cannot wait. And I'm so glad I read this book. Because it was adorable and heartbreaking. So yes. You all need to read this book.

Goodreads - Buy it

Update: Newer and better review of the book can be found here.

Cover Reveal: Kalahari by Jessica Khoury

Sharing the cover for Kalahari today. <3 And omg. I think it looks stunning. So pretty. And I love the colors. Sigh. I just cannot wait to read this book :D As I adore Jessica. She is amazing. And I have loved all her books so far. Origin and Vitro. Both books were awesome. So I just know that Kalahari will be too. And omg. Just read that summary. <3 Doesn't it sound perfect? I think so. Now I'm just waiting for February 24th 2015. The days need to go faster. Because I need this book. <3 I'm just so excited to get to know Sarah and Sam :D They sound awesome. Ack. I need this. Now. What do you think of the cover?

KALAHARI tells the story of Sarah Carmichael, a girl who has lived in one remote location after the next with her zoologist parents. Sarah is an expert on animals, speaks multiple languages, and is well versed in survival skills--but when it comes to talking to teens her own age, she's awkward and shy. Now, just six months after her mother was killed in an auto accident, Sarah and her dad are hosting a two-week safari for five city kids. Sarah dreads the trip, but when one of their guests turns out to be handsome, friendly Sam Quartermain, she wonders if it might be so bad after all.

But things quickly take a turn toward disastrous after Sarah's father disappears and the kids are left on their own. After fleeing from an attack by murderous poachers, they discover a ruined Corpus laboratory deep in the Kalahari--where a lethal engineered virus has escaped and turned the local animals into crazed, bloodthirsty monsters. Desperate to cover up the terrible pathogen they created, Corpus is determined to eliminate all witnesses to their catastrophic experiment--and Sarah, Sam, and the other kids are first on their list. Hunted by mercenaries, hit men, and an infected lion, Sarah must summon the strength and wits to stay alive in one of the world's most deadly deserts...but in the ruthless wilderness of the Kalahari, there is no water, no safety, and no place to hide.

Waiting on Wednesday #144

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

MONSTROUS BY MARCYKATE CONNOLLY

Goodreads Description:

The city of Bryre suffers under the magic of an evil wizard. Because of his curse, girls sicken and disappear without a trace, and Bryre’s inhabitants live in fear. No one is allowed outside after dark.

Yet night is the only time that Kymera can enter this dangerous city, for she must not be seen by humans. Her father says they would not understand her wings, the bolts in her neck, or her spiky tail—they would kill her. They would not understand that she was created for a purpose: to rescue the girls of Bryre.

Despite her caution, a boy named Ren sees Kym and begins to leave a perfect red rose for her every evening. As they become friends, Kym learns that Ren knows about the missing girls, the wizard, and the evil magic that haunts Bryre.

And what he knows will change Kym’s life.

Reminiscent of Frankenstein and the tales of the Brothers Grimm, this debut novel by MarcyKate Connolly stands out as a compelling, original story that has the feel of a classic.
