Review: Gustav Gloom and the People Taker by Adam-Troy Castro

I would never have heard of this book if I hadn't won a copy of it from Claire. And I am so happy that I did. My ARC of it is gorgeous! I adore it. And I finally decided to read it :) So pleased that I did. It is the third middle grade book I have read this week, and it was amazing. It is kind of a quick read, but the writing is a bit hard to read at times, and that annoyed me a tiny bit. Made my head hurt a little. But I also found the writing to be good, and the third point of view to be sweet. So I did enjoy it. :)

Gustav Gloom and the People Taker is about just that. Gustav Gloom is the main character. In a way, because Fernie is also the main character. And I loved them both. They are ten years old, and so adorable. Gustav is amazing. He is just the saddest little boy. Like really. And I loved him for it. I felt so sorry for him most of the time, but I also loved him a whole lot. It was just perfect. Fernie is his new neighbor, a ten year old girl. She lives with her father and sister, and sometimes her mother is there too.

I did adore her father and sister as well. And their cat. Their cat was awesome. Kind of hated his shadow. But I learned to love it ;p Her father, Mr. What is a safety person. He's always concerned about what could happen and what they must all do to keep safe. He was a bit extreme. But I adored him for it :D Cause he was different, and it was adorable. Also liked Fernie's sister, Pearlie. She was awesome. Two years older, and we didn't see her that much, but she was very likeable :)

Fernie herself is an awesome child. Because of her father being the way he is, both girls got a liking to scary and unsafe things. They like monsters and such. Which was awesome. Anyway. Fernie is a kind person. And sweet. And all kinds of awesome. She and Gustav was perfect together. And I cannot help but see romance between them when they get older :) Really want a book about that too. Hih.

Time to describe a bit about the plot. This is kind of a horror story. It isn't as brutal as the previous book I read, but it is still kind of awful many of the things we read about. Like the People Taker and the people that he take. That was kind of awful. Even though we never got to know what he really did to them.. still. There is many characters in this book, many I kind of liked, and some I didn't like. But they were all awesome to read about. The story in this book is amazing. It all takes place in one night.

And it is all so amazing. Most of it takes place inside Gustav Gloom's scary black house. Where everything is black; the grass, the trees, and the shadow on the ground. I loved his house. Even though there were lot of scary things in there. Like the People Taker and his Beast. And all the Shadows. Although they weren't really scary, but a bit disturbing. I did like them. You see, in this world people's shadows can leave them. And they can do whatever they want. They can eat for you. And other things.

I kind of loved the shadows. It was an awesome plot twist :) The thing about Gustav is that he is different. Different than a shadow, different than a human boy. We aren't sure yet what he is, but I'm hoping we will find it out :) Anyway. Not sure what more to say about this book, because I don't want to spoil it since it isn't so long. This book has lots of excitement. It is funny, sweet, and charming. It really is one of the perfect books. I adored it. And I think you should read it :) There is nothing like it.

One of the things I loved the most where all the pictures inside the book. There is many illustrations. And they are all perfect. Just what I imagined :) They are really well done. So I was very happy with those ;) Anyway. Glad I read this book. And I am dying to read the sequel; Gustav Gloom and the Nightmare Vault. It will be just as awesome, I think. Wants it right away. Cannot wait to know more about Gustav :D So excited about it all. Sigh. Also. The cover is gorgeous :)
(Tiny note: would have given it a five star if I hadn't had any trouble with the writing at times :p <3)

Review: The Cavendish Home For Boys and Girls by Claire Legrand

I learned of this book many months ago. And I have wanted it ever since. I should also mention that I adore the author; Claire. She is awesome. I've just been waiting for the release date to come, and for my book to arrive. I must admit that I didn't research the book very much before it got here, just the summary and cover. Because when I really really want something, I want it right away, and I have no patience to wait months (A) But Cavendish finally arrived today. And I started it right away. Also? Gorgeous cover.

Must say that it is just as perfect as I had imagined it would be. But it was also so much more than I ever thought it would be. It is freaking creepy. And scary. And awful. It is beyond perfect. The whole book is perfect. I just wanted more and more and more. Never wanted it to end. Also! It's supposed to be a middle grade book? I'm not sure I would have been brave enough to read it when I was younger.. but I loved that the main characters were just 12. It was perfect. But, yeah, this book has a more grown-up feeling to it. That was really good, though :D And it is still middle grade. <3 Just different.

At first the writing sort of confused me for a moment. I mean, the writing is perfect. There were just a whole lot of things to get used to in the beginning. But after less than ten pages, I was used to it all, and I adored the writing. :) Although, in the beginning of the book I kind of hated the main character, Victoria. Really disliked her. She was such a brat. And, well, she kind of still is at the end. But she is a whole lot better, and I liked that very much. She changes a lot in this book. Well, a little, at least :D

Victoria likes for things to be in order. And I do get that. Because I'm somewhat like that too. Just not as crazy, lol. She's just twelve, but she feels so grown up at times. At other times, though, she's such a child. Which was nice. She is the best. The best at home, the best in school. At the top of her class. And she enjoys that. It's what she wants from her life. And I kind of loved her because of that, I didn't mind her being like that. Just didn't like the way she was with other people. Like Lawrence.

You see, I loved Lawrence. He's there in the beginning, but then he's missing for a bit. And I missed him so much. But everything we got to see about him just made me love him so. It isn't possible to read this book and not adore Lawrence. He is different, but so perfect. He's a disaster. And I loved it. He also plays the piano, which I loved. Lawrence was just perfect. But gah. I HATED how Victoria treated him in the beginning. She was cruel. And I did not like it one bit. But it got better. <3

And even though I didn't approve much of how Victoria treated Lawrence in the beginning, I still loved their friendship. Adored it. And wished they had been older so that it could have been a romance (A) Hih. But it sort of was. In a weird way. I at least saw some feelings. And I loved that so much. Anyway. Other awesome characters: Mr. Tibbalt and his dog. They were awesome. Mr. Tibbalt is an old man, but he plays a big part in this book. As do his dog. I really enjoyed reading about them :)

There is a lot of children in this book. But I won't say much about them. But there are many of them that I liked ;) Some I disliked a whole lot. But they all needed to be in this book. Everyone did. Then there was Mr. Alice and Mrs. Cavendish. Mr. Alice was freaking creepy. I did not like him one bit. But god. He was so awesome. I mean, awful and horrible and scary. But I loved his parts in this book. Made it so much more exciting and scary and just really amazing. Then there was Mrs. Cavendish.

I'm not sure how to describe her. I won't spoil anything. Really won't. But holy crap. She is so bad. So awful. And creepy. And goddamn scary. I mean, first she's nice. So that's a bit confusing, lol. But ugh. That don't last... and I won't say more than that :D Mrs. Cavendish is the woman who owns and runs The Cavendish Home For Boys and Girls. And we will get to know a whole lot about that place. Too much. Way too much. It is so scary. And awful. So many horrible things. I loved every page of it.

Anyway. Back to the plot of this book. I won't say much. Because I don't want to spoil any of the amazing things happening in this book. But I will say a few things. As you can read from the summary, Lawrence disappears. And I really hated how long time went after that. Grrrr. But anyway. Victoria goes searching for him. And she finds out so many weird things that are happening in her town. And it is so exciting to read about. I could not stop reading this book. It was so perfect.

Lawrence going missing is what starts the sort of adventure in this book. And I kind of loved that. I wish I could talk about it all. Everything that happens in the Home and just about everything.. but I won't :D Because you really need to read this book. I mean it. Go get it right now! The Cavendish Home For Boys and Girls will suck you right in. And I promise you that you will love it. It is perfect. Even if you don't read MG books you will still love this one. Promise.

This book freaked me out so much. It really did. So many awful things happen in this book. There are deaths. And torture. Mild torture. And even though it was so awful to read about, I just wanted to read more and more and more. I loved every page in this book. The mystery is huge. And it is so interesting to read about. You will all love it. Like I did. Then there is the epilogue. Won't spoil it, but god. I loved the last two pages so much. They were perfect. Made me think there MUST be a sequel.

You hear me, Claire? You must write a sequel. <3 I need one. I need to know what happens next. I really do. Because the epilogue is perfect. I need to know. It is perfect, but it is also kind of horrible. So yeah. I need a sequel Claire! Pretty please? <3 hih :) Really hoping there will be one. Soon. Sigh. This book was just perfect. Every page was perfect. So glad I read it :) I also kind of want to re-read it right away. But I can't do that.. but I will, very soon, I think. So, go buy it, people! <3

I forgot about the bugs! How could I forget about the bugs? Ugh. Must be because it's getting late, and I'm tired. Sorry about that. Anyway. The bugs in this book are so well done. They are so awful. And they made me itch all over. I hate bugs. (But I kind of adore the Cavendish bug I won from Claire months ago.) The bugs are a big part of this book. And I loved that a whole lot. But they are also really horrible and creepy and disgusting and mean. But I still loved them ;p

I also forgot to mention that The Cavendish Home For Boys and Girls reminded me a lot of the movie Coraline. Only, Cavendish was a lot better. <3 I'm actually glad it reminded me of that movie, because it made it easier for me to picture some things in the book :) I don't think I have ever read a book like this before. And that is a good thing. Because this book is unique, and it is so perfect. I just loved The Cavendish Home For Boys and Girls a whole lot :)

Review: The Prince Who Fell from the Sky by John Claude Bemis

I pre-ordered this book a few months before it came out. I wanted it the moment I saw the cover. Because the cover is special and unique, and so gorgeous. I knew I would like the book. Then today, more than three months since I got the book, I finally decided to read it. Well, okay, I decided to read it because I have watched a whole lot of Anime movies these past days. And I wanted to read, yet I haven't read a book in two weeks. Then I noticed this. And I needed to read it. And suddenly I had finished the book.

At first I wondered if I would like the book. Because The Prince Who Fell from the Sky is an animal book. It is told from the point of view of Casseomae, a female bear. Have never read an animal book before. So I was unsure. But after only a few pages I was in love. This is a stunning book. The writing is perfect, and I loved all the animals. Especially the main character. Casseomae is amazing. She is kind and loving and protective. And she has such a sad history. I just loved reading it all.

It may sound a bit weird, a whole book from the point of view of a bear. But it really is perfect. It is kind of awesome to read about animals that talk. Like Dumpster the rat. He was awesome. The rats have a big memory, at least Dumpster did, and they know the most about everything. Especially the Skinless Ones. I also liked Pang, the dog. He was awesome as well. Kind and protective. Then there was the leader of the bears; Alioth. He was almost a child of Casseomae, but not really.

We learned a bit about him in the beginning. I did like him. Then there was Rend, the coyote. We even got a chapter from her point of view. She was kind of awful at times. But I also did like reading about her. :) Then there is the leader of the forest. The pack master of the wolves. Ogeema. He was so bad. And I loved that he was a part of this book. It made the book so exciting, and scary too. It was awesome. The scariest character, though, was Mother Death. Won't say more than that :D So awesome.

This book has a whole lot of amazing characters. And I loved that so much. It also has such a perfect plot. It is stunning. And the writing really is perfect. This book will make you feel things. It will make you sad, happy, excited, scared. It has it all. Saddest part was about Casseomae and her cubs. It broke my heart. And I hated it. But I also loved it, cause I love those sad things. But gah. It is really sad. I won't say that much about the plot, just a few things. Don't think it's very spoilery :)

As you can read from the summary, a boy fells from the sky. A Skinless One. It isn't safe. Because the Skinless Ones are all supposed to be long dead. So everyone is trying to kill the boy. Except for Casseomae. She wants to protect him. Like a cub. And I adored that so much. It starts such an amazing adventure. It is all so perfect. Sigh. I adored this book. There are so many exciting parts. And sweet parts. And scary parts. The Prince Who Fell from the Sky has it all.

I just wish the book had been longer. It's only 258 pages. But that is 258 amazing pages. And I am happy with it all. Just wanted more. And a tiny bit sad about the ending. But it also made a whole lot of sense. Also, I really loved the part where they are in the city, and there are all those animals. It was scary, and so well written. I loved it. Anyway. I want more of this book. Maybe a sequel one day? <3 Hopes so. :) You really should read this book. It is worth it. It is perfect.

Review: Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake

I can't believe it's been a whole year since I first read Anna Dressed in Blood. A whole year waiting for this sequel. And I can say that it was worth the wait. Girl of Nightmares was amazing. A tiny thing annoyed me a bit, but I didn't mind that much. Cause I loved Cas at all times, and Thomas. And Anna. They are my favorite characters in these books, and I loved them all the time. Happy about that. :)

I adore that cover of Girl of Nightmares. It is perfect. Creepy, so very creepy. But gorgeous. Same cover girl from Anna Dressed in Blood, and I'm really happy with that. I love the ghosts, and the colors. Might have loved the first cover best, when it was just all red. But I must admit that this new cover is even more pretty in person than I thought it would be. It is so gorgeous. <3 Cover love. :)

These two books are high on my all-time favorite books. They are both just perfect. I adore this world that Kendare has created. I mean, it's just like ours, but with some awesome ghosts and such. :) What I love very much is the writing. Because it is perfect. It is rare to find good books with good writing, but Kendare has managed it with two books now. And I cannot wait to read more from her. <3

Anyway. You should know that this review will contain spoilers if you have not read Anna Dressed in Blood. So be aware of that. :) And if you still haven't read Anna Dressed in Blood I have no idea what is wrong with you. You need to read it. Right away. And then Girl of Nightmares right after. :) This amazing sequel starts six months after the first one ended. And I did like how it started. Somewhat.

It starts on a date. Cas on a date. And I may not have liked that, but Cas didn't have any interest in her whatsoever. So I didn't really mind at all. And I'm glad we got to know that. :) It has been six months since Anna disappeared. Since she dragged their enemy down to hell. Cas should move on, according to everyone around him. But he can't. And I so understand that. He can't because he doesn't know what really happened to Anna. He doesn't know if she is alright or not. Then, the nightmares starts.

Only, it isn't really nightmares. Cause they happen when he is awake. He sees Anna so many times. All times in horrible ways. She is being tortured. And most likely by the same monster she dragged with her. And it is killing Cas. Well, kind of. It is all so awful. Because I felt it right with him, and it made me hurt so much. And it made me sad and angry and just gah. Then there were his friends..

Thomas and Carmel. And I loved Thomas. He believed in Cas all the time. And that is a true friend. Thomas was awesome. Just like in the first book. :) But then there was Carmel. And I kind of knew there were a reason for why I didn't like her much in the first book. In this book I hated her. She acted like such a bitch. And I should have been able to understand her, maybe, but I didn't. She was just so cruel at times. And I could have forgiven her at the end, but I didn't. I just did not like her at all :p

And that is the thing that annoyed me. That it was over so fast, by the end. But. I also kind of understood it. In a way. Because I do adore Thomas and wanted him to be happy. :) There was also a new character. Jestine. I didn't like her at all. And it seemed like Cas did. Just hope it wasn't anything romantic. That would not be okay. I mean, she was kind of awesome. But I didn't like her :p

We also got to see Gideon in this book. He wasn't as awesome as I had imagined him to be. But that was most likely because of the way things were then. Wish we could have met Daisy ;) I also really loved Cas's mom more in this book. She is awesome. Then, of course, I adored Cas. He is just the perfect character. Kind, sweet and strong. But he is also a bit broken, which I loved a whole lot.

And he has so much love for Anna. I adored it. There is a bit of Anna in this book. Won't spoil it. But I loved her. Felt so sorry for her. But was so happy to see her in this book. I just wish.. sigh. Was a bit disappointed. Cause there is 300 pages without her :p And I wish she had been there more. But I also did like what happened in those 300 pages. Like the Suicide Forest. That one was awesome. And scary.

The plot in Girl of Nightmares is amazing. Just as good as the first one. Even though there wasn't much Anna. But there was Cas the whole time. And I adore Cas. And Thomas. They make a fine twosome. This book is very scary too, like the first one. Not as many ghost killings. Didn't mind though. There is more talking in this book. But I did enjoy it. It is also very creepy.

We get to know of an Order. Won't say much about it. But I didn't like the Order. It sucked. But I did like that it was in this book. :) It made it interesting ;p Girl of Nightmares is exciting. It is scary. It is perfect. There isn't much romance in this book. Maybe one page. Maybe. Tiny bit sad about that. But I didn't really mind, cause this book was so amazing even without romance. And that was good. :)

There happens so much in this book. And you must pay attention. And I hated getting to see how bad Anna was doing. It killed me. But it was perfect. Kind of wish it had happened more. Hih. Anyway. The ending of this book is kind of fast. I wanted it to be longer and longer and longer. Never wanted it to end. A tiny bit disappointed by the ending, but it was also perfect. It made a lot of sense. And, well, it was kind of sweet. But it also made me want a sequel so bad. I need more Cas. Lots more Cas.

There isn't really anything more to say. I loved Girl of Nightmares. It is the perfect sequel to an amazing book. And I'm really happy about it. Cannot wait to re-read these awesome books again. Hih. :) Anyway. If you have read Anna Dressed in Blood, then you must read Girl of Nightmares. It really is an amazing sequel. Plus, you must know how it all ends. What happens next. :)

I wanted to thank Tor Teen for sending me a finished copy of this book plus the most perfect buttons.
It means the world to me. So thank you. Thank you so much. :)

Book Recommendation: Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

I just finished re-reading this perfect book. Cannot believe it's been almost a whole year since I first read it. Anna Dressed in Blood is one of the best books there is. It is so damn good. First, the cover. You cannot look at it and tell me it isn't perfect. Because it is. One of the best covers ever. Probably the best. I love everything about it; the girl, the hair, the dress, the house, the blood. Even the cracks.

There isn't a single thing about this book that I didn't like. Not one thing. By looking at the cover, you would think it would be written from a girl's point of view. It isn't. This is Cas's book. And I loved that. But it centers around Anna. And I loved that even more. First we get to know Cas. And we get to see him getting new friends. And it is all so perfect. I liked the beginning of this book a whole lot.

You see, the thing about Cas is that he hunts ghosts. Kind of. He finds them, and kills them again. Because most ghosts are out there killing other people. They don't feel much or know much. And I loved the first chapter; were we got to see him hunting. That was awesome. Cas kills with his athame. And I loved that. About his dad. Sigh. And I loved his mom. And their cat; Tybalt. He has a perfect family.

Except, of course, for the fact that his dad is dead. Was killed when Cas was just seven. And gah. He was killed in such an awful way. And now Cas is trying to find the ghost who killed him; to avenge him. And I adored that. Even though it is a bit fucked up. But it is done so well. Cas is a perfect character. Sweet, kind and broken. Just my kind of boy. And I just loved him at all times. He's 17.

This book starts out with Cas going on another ghost hunt. He got a tip about Anna Dressed in Blood. A sixteen year old dead girl with a dress stained with blood killing lots of people. That was a really awesome plot idea. :) Cas is interested in her, and he's not sure why. He just gets the feeling something is different about this ghost. And he is right. Anna isn't anything like other ghosts. She is different.

At first, different is bad. She kills a whole lot of people. Anyone who enters her home. Anna Korlov died in 1958, so she's had a lot of time to kill. And I won't spoil the plot of this book. Cause things go really awesome from there. I loved getting to see Anna's back story. The way she died. It was gruesome and awful and I loved every second of it. Cause this really is a horror book. But not only that.

Anna Dressed in Blood is also a romance. Well, okay, not a big romance book. But there is some. And I loved every second of it. Cas really fit well with the girl of his interest. <3 Hih. Won't say. :) Anyway. About the other characters. There is Thomas, who becomes Cas's best friend. He seemed a bit weird at first, but I really ended up loving him. He was loyal and kind and so sweet. I adored him.

Then there was Carmel. I wasn't sure about how to feel for her. At first I didn't like her much; because it seemed she would be the love interest. But she wasn't. And after that I loved her a lot. She and Thomas fit so well together. It was really sweet to see. :) But there were also many characters in this book that I hated. But I also loved that they were a part of this book; because it made it even better.

There is so many things happening in Anna Dressed in Blood. I loved every scene including Anna. She was the best character, I think. But I also loved Cas just as much. So I'm conflicted ;p This book is amazing. There is a lot of death, brutal ones, and there was one I really hated near the end. *Sobs.* But I also understood why it happened; cause it did make a lot of sense. There is romance. So sweet. And lots of action. Plus, the writing is perfect. I loved the "voice" of Cas. It was perfect.

I'm not sure what else to say about this book to convince you all to read it. You just need to read it! Beccause it is perfect. The action is perfect. And it all makes sense; even though it is about ghosts and such. I really loved it. Cause it's unique, and so well done. Thank you, Kendare, for writing this perfect book. <3 I cannot wait to get started on the sequel; Girl of Nightmares. :) Anyway. READ IT!

Review: The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

I have so much emotions right now. I cannot decide how to feel. I kind of loved this new series more than The Iron Fey books. But, only almost, cause Ethan is not as perfect as Ash were. :) But don't get me wrong. Ethan is amazing. I loved him a whole lot. This whole book was perfect. More intense than The Iron Fey, and I loved that so much. A bit sad about the ending, but gah, this book is perfect.

I won't spoil this book for you. But. You need to know that this review will be spoilery if you have not read The Iron Knight. But you probably won't care if you haven't read any of the Iron Fey books. But, yeah, it will spoil you if you have not read The Iron Knight yet. :) But if you have read it, it won't be that spoilery, cause you kind of knew it would happen, so yeah. Will try my best to write a perfect review. :)

The cover of The Lost Prince is a bit more sexy than the Iron Fey covers ;p And I love that. Didn't imagine Ethan like that, though, but, yeah, the cover is awesome. :) What I love so much about this book, is the tagline, "Call of the Forgotten." Because it is freaking brilliant. And this is the most exciting and scary book. It is perfect. The writing is perfect, as well. If you read The Iron Knight, you already know what The Forgotten is. And omg. They are creepy and awful and so perfect.

I'm not sure how to begin this review. I want to talk about it all. And I'm not sure where to start. So I'll start with Ethan. I loved Ethan. If you remember from The Iron King, he is the little brother of Meghan. And I adored him then. Now, however, he is seventeen. And so awesome. He is perfect. But, yeah. He is angry and closed off from everyone. And I hated that. Felt for him so much. But I also understood it so well. It just made me love Ethan more. Also, liked his mom a bit.

Was a bit annoyed at the use of Them. Didn't like that word much. But, well, I also understood that. So I couldn't really hate it. :) Ethan does Kali, something like karate. But not the same. Lots of complicated stuff I will never learn :) lol. But I did like that he did so. Made him a stronger person ;p And I sort of liked his teacher; Guro. He seemed kind of nice. :)

This book starts off really awesome. I loved every part of this book. And the beginning is amazing. Not gonna say it all. But we get to meet some people, like Todd. And I did like Todd. He seemed a bit annoying at first, but I really did enjoy reading about him. Awesome character. Then there was Kenzie, the love interest. And I was a bit conflicted. Didn't like her much at first; found her to be a bit annoying. But, by the end, I kind of loved her. So I'm glad for that. :) I do want her with Ethan.

The plot and story in this book is so damn good. I have no idea how to describe it. It fits if well with The Iron Fey books. Because it kind of continues where they ended, in a way. Just some years later. And it is all so perfect. There is Grimalkin. Who I adore. And there is Ash. Who I love more than anything. But he isn't in this book much, but still. Love him so much. And there is Meghan. I like her. :) And there is a little Puck, as well. Still don't like him. lol :D But there are so many new characters.

Like Keirran. I must admit, I kind of hate his name :p Just cannot help it. But. I loved him. At least, at first. By the end I kind of hated him. And that sucked. But, I also know there must be a reason for it all. And I cannot wait to figure that out. Keirran really is a perfect person, to be honest. So much like Ash. I adored that. If you have read The Iron Knight, you know who he is. :) And it is perfect.

I don't know if I can talk more about the characters. It makes me hurt. Both because I love them, and because it is painful to remember it all. Just know, the characters in The Lost Prince is perfect. All of them is amazing. And broken. And gah. I cannot get over how perfect this book was. Anyway. Now I'm gonna talk a bit about the plot. Can't say that much, but I will say a few things :D

The plot is perfect. I loved everything about The Forgotten. They are Fey. An awful kind. The are all Forgotten Fey, the kind people have forgotten about. So they are all dying. But then. In this book, they have found a way to live. By killing other Fey and sucking up their Glamour. And I won't say more than that. Just know that it is awful and scary and thrilling. I loved it all. The plot is perfect.

I'm not sure what else to say. Ethan is paranoid because of the Fey. And it is heartbreaking. Because it is so sad, and I felt so bad for him. It gets better near the end, and I did like that. But it just got better because of a girl. Not sure I approve. But I didn't hate it, and that is a good thing. :) Anyway. The Lost Prince is a perfect book. It has action, romance, horror. It has everything. And I cannot wait to re-read it. So, yeah, This is a book that you must read. Just so you know. :) I loved it.

I adore the title for book two; The Traitor Son. But it is breaking my heart. Because I know what it means now. And it kills me. I cannot wait for this book. Need it right away. But I also don't want it, because I fear it will break me too much. Sigh. I adore Julie. She creates the perfect books. :)
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin for the chance to read this book early. <3

Review: The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa

I feel that I should start this review by saying how much I adore these book covers. All four of them. Love the faces, the colors, the writing and just everything about them. My favorite, though, is the Iron Knight cover. <3 It is simply gorgeous. Not the way I imagined Ash, but the guy is still stunning ;p Hih. I am not sure how I feel about this book. I'm still so conflicted. Loved and disliked it. Will try to explain it.

I adore The Iron Fey series. The books are really good, the characters likeable. For the most part ;) And I am in love with the world it is set it. I love the story, and everything in it. And I am very glad that I finally re-read this series so that I could read The Iron Knight. :) Because I loved The Iron Knight. Most of it. There was this one part I hated, and I wished it hadn't been in the book. But I adore Ash. Always. <3

The Iron Knight is just Ash's story. It happens after The Iron Queen, and it is awesome. So, well, beware. This review will be spoilery if you have not read the first three Iron Fey books. In this book Ash is searching for the end of the world, so that he may earn a human soul. He need one, if he is ever to be with Meghan in the Iron Kingdom again. And he wants that more than anything. Plus, he made a promise to find a way to be with her. *Sigh.* <3

So our story begins. With Ash, Puck and Grimalkin. I loved that. Wish it had been only them. Or just Ash and Grimalkin. That would have been my perfect book. :) But then there is a wolf. The Big Bad Wolf. He has a big part in this book, sort of. And I did like that. For the most part. :) Found him a bit cute. And gah. I really did love the adventure in this book, all the things they saw. I enjoyed that a lot. And I loved that Ash didn't have to be alone. But god damn it. There was one thing I hated. Very much.

And that was Ariella. I fucking hated her. And I probably shouldn't have, but damn it. It was no fair. Just heartbreak, and no fun at all. Wish she had not been a part of this book. I might have liked it at the ending, but would rather have been without her. Messing with Ash's head. Do not approve. Plus, I didn't like her as a person. Or, as a Seer. Seemed a bit far-fetched. Bit I endured it. :)

One other thing I disliked was that a person I loved in the previous books were only in this book for, what, 5 pages at the most? I did not approve of that, either. Wish there had been more. Sigh. But. I also loved that this was Ash's book, so I didn't mind that much. :) Anyway. This book is about getting Ash a soul. And I won't say if it is successful or not, you'll see for yourself, you should, anyway. :)

And it is so awful. And heartbreaking. So damn sad. But it is also perfect. I loved it. Would have given it five stars if there had been no Ariella. But since there was, only a four star. But make no mistake. Ash is worthy of at least a five star. :) Anyway. There are a lot of trials in this book. Many bad ones. Like when we get to see all of Ash's past mistakes. People he hurt. People he killed. That killed me.

But I also loved it. And I didn't hate Ash for it, cause, well, he IS a Fey, and it is normal for them to do things like that. So, yeah, I didn't hate him for it. But I hated reading it. Because it is awful. And so sad. And gah. I also loved it. Loved that we got to see more of Ash. But there was one thing I disliked a whole lot. When we got to see the "future" of Ash and Meghan. It probably won't happen, but I didn't like reading it. It was sad and it made me very angry and so sad and gah.

But I have hope. I have lots of hope for the future. And I kind of want a fifth book :) But I know there won't be ;p Still. So excited for the short story set in the future coming late this August :D Cannot wait for that one. <3 And, of course, Ethan's story. Will be reading The Lost Prince next. Excited about that. <3 Anyway. I am not sure what else to say about this book. Will mention a few things more.

I'm not saying more about the plot. Just, well, it is a big adventure. And I liked that a lot. I loved everything we got to see in this book. And I adored Grimalkin even more. He is an awesome character. And I need more of him. Mostly, I need more of Ash. Cause Ash is perfect in this book. A lot broken, though. But that is why I love him. And he is so sweet. And gah. I adore Ash. <3 You too, right? ;p

I loved this book. And I adore this series by Julie Kagawa. If you have read the first three books, then you must read The Iron Knight. And if you still haven't read any of them, you must start it soon! These books are awesome. And I do think that everyone should read them. :)

Review: The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

I do believe this book is my favorite in this series. But I'm hoping to love The Iron Knight even more; since it's Ash's book and all. :) Cannot wait for that. I have enjoyed re-reading this series a lot. And I am very glad that I did re-read it. But I have also found some flaws in this series that I didn't remember; and I didn't like them that much :\ But I'm letting those go, cause this is an amazing series, still. :)

The Iron Queen starts right where the Iron Daughter ended. And I'm pleased with that. Ash and Meghan is in exile. And they are about to go home to her, to see her family again. Except, they cannot do that. They get stopped by some Iron Fey, and Meghan realizes she cannot go home and risk her family's life. And I might have liked her for that. Hih. But still, was a bit disappointed. Since I liked her family.

The plot in this book is still just as awesome as the first two books. I just think it's even better. There is some tension in this book, and I didn't like the things Meghan said to Ash at times. But it always worked out. Except for the ending, of course. Grrr. Anyway. The romance in this book is a lot better than in the previous ones. No triangle or mixed feelings or something like that. Which was good. :)

The romance between Ash and Meghan is real and so sweet and perfect. I just wanted more of that at all times. Ash is still my favorite character; because he is perfect. Have already talked about that two times; so not saying it again ;p Hih. But, yeah, I loved Ash even more in this book. And I just love Grimalkin. But it seems that they take him for granted a lot of times :\ Still. I adore him.

Still don't like Puck. I can, maybe, see why some would like him. I just don't. At all. He just isn't anywhere near my type of guy. :) Well, fictional guy. But still. I do like having him in these books. For the most part. :) I also think I liked Meghan more in this book. She is stronger and such, and kind of awesome. But some things I just didn't understand and felt it was explained too little. But still, it didn't need to be explained, not really. These books are easy read. :)

Although, they are longer than I remember them being. 358 pages, all three books. But they went by so fast. And I loved re-reading them so much. <3 Cause I fell in love with the characters again, and the beautiful world Julie has created. The Faery's Nevernever really is written well. I did love reading about it. The Summer court and the Winter court. And in this book, the Iron Realm.

The Iron Realm is a creepy place. I did not like it. Plus, it was killing Ash. See, Iron is deadly for the Fey. And being in contact or just near it will kill you. So, yeah, that sucked. Anyway. The plot in this book is awesome. They are all trying to find and kill the False Iron King. And I did enjoy that plot twist. There is a lot of death and war in this book, but not brutal at all. Bit disappointed. lol :)

But the characters in this book is perfect. All of them. For the most part, that is ;p There is lots of new characters as well, and I did like reading about them. Even though I didn't like Glitch. But I did love Razor, the Gremling :) The plot in The Iron Queen is really exciting and stunning. It is perfect. Lots of things happen all the time, and it is always entertaining to read. You won't be bored.

Not sure what else to say about this book. I loved the Fearies. And I adored Ash more than anything. The scenes between him and Meghan are perfect. Though I wish there had been more. :) I also loved the plot, and the climax, sort of, at the end was also really perfect. Interesting too. :) And a bit annoying. Cause I did not like the cliffhanger. But, I am dying to read The Iron Knight. <3 So I must read it next. Been waiting so long. Anyway. You must read this series and this book. So good. :)

Review: The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

I do love re-reading this series. I am in love with the world Julie has created, and I love reading about all my favorite characters; Ash, Grimalkin and Meghan. And while I love the writing as well, I think Julie's newest book; The Immortal Rules, is written so much better. But even so. You cannot compare her books at all. They are too different. Just finished book two, The Iron Daughter. And while I did love it, I didn't love it as much as book one or book three. So giving it a four star. Will explain why. :)

This sequel starts where The Iron King ended. Meghan is now in the Unseelie court, all alone. Ash is there, somewhere, but he has gotten really cold and distant. And, well, to be honest, I kind of found Meghan to be a bit patethic in this book. Especially in the beginning. She was a bit clichè most of the time, with the whole I love you thing. Thought it was a bit too soon. But, even though I felt that way about her sometimes, I did still love her. And I could understand it; since she is only 16. :)

Anyway. About Ash being cold and distant. That is also explained early on. And to be honest, I didn't blame him one bit. I would have done the same. Sigh. I just adore Ash. He might be cold most of the time, but he is also gentle and kind and so damn sweet. It is impossible not to love him. I dare you not to. His brothers, though, are a different thing. We got to know them more. Rowan and Sage.

I actually did like Sage a bit. He seemed nice. But he wasn't there long. And Rowan I didn't like at all. Asshole. But I did like having them both in this story. :) Then, of course, there is Queen Mab, of the Unseelie court. And their mother. She isn't very nice. But, well, I kind of loved her still. She is evil and cruel, but I found her fascinating and interesting to read about ;p Need more of her, too.

Some might say that Meghan grows as a person in this book. And I might agree. A tiny bit. All the way at the end of the book. Cause the end of this book is my favorite part of it all. The end is sweet but also awful. And a cliffhanger. But it is an perfect ending, to be honest. In the beginning of the book, though, I didn't like Meghan. Thought she should work better at finding out her feelings.

There is kind of a love triangle in this book. I kind of remembered it to be bigger and more important then it was. Heh. But it isn't a big deal. Not really. Cause this book doesn't focus much on the romance. I mean, there is some romance. And I adored every moment between Ash and Meghan. But there was more plot in this book. And I did like that. So I endured the short triangle thing, too. :)

There is lots of new characters in this book as well. Won't talk much about them. But there is another Queen, and I didn't like her much. She's cruel and not very nice at all. But I liked reading about her, still. Then there was a new version of Ironhorse. And I adored him. For the most part. :) Then of course, Grimalkin. Smaller part in this book, sadly. But still so amazing. Loves him a whole lot. :)

Anyway. Back to the plot in this book. I'm not sure how to describe it without spoiling anything. So I probably won't say much. There is a lot more Faeries in this book. More Iron Fey as well. And it is all kind of horrible. But I loved it so much. The Iron Daughter is horrible. And amazing. And exciting. It has it all. But since I was a bit disappointed in Meghan I'm only giving it a four star. Still, amazing. :)

The Fey is at war in this book. Although we don't get to see much of this war. It's much bigger in the third book. I do find Puck to be an interesting character. But I still don't like him. He lies too often, about big things. So that kind of sucks. But I don't really mind, not at all. :) Ash, however, is just as perfect in this book. Still so broken. And I love that the most about him. I just adore Ash. <3

I'm not sure what else I can say about this book. It is an easy read, for the most part. :) And it is a great read, and I did love it. Super excited to re-read the next book now :D And then, finally, The Iron Knight. <3 If you have read the first book, The Iron King, then you really should read The Iron Daughter. Cause it is awesome and worth reading. :)

Review: The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

It has been such a long time since I first read this series. A little over a year now. And I have been wanting to re-read it ever since the fourth book, The Iron Knight, came out. But I just never have :\ Cause I still have not read it. But now I'm re-reading them all. :) And I cannot wait to read more about Ash, since he will forever be my favorite character in this series. This series is amazing.

But, well, I probably should not have re-read The Iron King right after having re-read The Immortal Rules. :) Cause, well, I liked The Immortal Rules so much better. Julie's writing is even more perfect in it. But even so. The Iron King is amazing. And I adore the characters. And I do like the writing a whole lot. And Julie has created such a perfect story world, and it is so easy to get lost in it. Loved that.

In the beginning of the book I'm feeling a lot of hurt and anger. But not at the book, or the writer. It's because of High School. And gah. I hated going to school myself, and things in this book is a bit too personal to me. Somehow. It is just awful, with Meghan and Scott. It is sad and cruel but it is also so perfect, because it's real. I mean, there is no romance. It's hate and humilitation because of a crush. And it's awful. I did not like it. But I also loved it. In a weird way. Was glad it was there.

Lets start by talking about the main character, Meghan Chase. She is an unique character. And special. But I do felt like she was a bit young; just turned 16. But I also remember being 16 and I did not feel young, so I didn't mind that much at all. :) Meghan is kind, and brave, and sweet. She is a great character. I might have been a bit mad at her a few times, but nothing very big. :)

She has one best friend; Robbie. A prankster. I didn't really like him at all. Just not my kind of character ;p Plus, he lied to Meghan so many times, about so many important things. And I did not approve of that. (Especially not in book two..) But I did like that Meghan had at least one friend. She is pretty normal, really. Until she turns sixteen and everything she knows changes.

Because this book is about Faeries. And it turns out that Meghan is a half-faery. And that was pretty cool. I mean, she's not very happy about it herself. But I thought it was awesome. Cause we got to know so many amazing characters because of it. Ash, Grimalkin. Sigh. Then there is Puck, the lying best friend. It is easy to see that he is in love with Meghan. At least to me. Did not approve.

Okay, I probably would have liked Puck if there had been no Ash. But since there IS Ash, Puck does not stand a chance. :) See, Puck is goofing around too much. Getting people killed and hurt and it's all kind of awful. I don't like it. And I didn't like Puck much. But I did think he was entertaining ;p One character that I did love, was Grimalkin. He is a cat. A talking one. The most adorable cat there is. Although, I'm not sure he would forgive you for saying so. I loved him a whole lot. :) Perfect character.

Then, of course, there is Ash. The Unseelie Prince. He really is perfect. Handsome, mysterious and broken. He can be a bit cold and cut off, but it only made me love him more. Cause he can also be so much more. Ash is gentle, deep inside. But he has been broken. And it is awful. And I hated it. But also loved it. Sigh. I adore Ash. And I love him and Meghan together. <3 More, please.

Anyway. Should also say something about the plot in this book. :) It is about Faeries. Like I said. Bad ones, some good ones. And lots of awful creatures as well. Not talking about them all, just know that they are horrible and fascinating. There are the Seelie court and the Unseelie court. Good vs evil. In a way. Personally, I found both to be kind of evil ;p There are lots of Faeries in this book. Loved that.

Then there are the Iron Fey. And those are even more different. Won't say anything about them, just that I loved reading about them and they fascinated me even more than the regular ones. Hih. This first book, The Iron King, is mostly about Meghan trying to save her little brother, Ethan. And I loved that. It is heartbreaking, but also sweet at times. This book is cruel. But I loved every moment of it.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. So excited to be re-reading this series. And to read the new Fey book coming out in a few months. Cannot wait for that. Anyway. The Iron King is an amazing book. It is exciting, and unique. It has some cute romance. And lots of action and some death. It is really great. And if you still haven't read this series, I suggest you get a move on ;)

I'm nervous about re-reading the second book again. Because of the love triangle. Well, it is kind of a love triangle. And I won't like it one bit. But, luckily, it is over quickly. I hope. But I am also excited to re-read the rest of the series. Cause I adore Ash. And Ash is a huge part of these books. <3
