Review: Witch Eyes by Scott Tracey

I wasn't sure what stars to give this book, but to me it is a 3.5 star :)

I liked this book. The plot was interesting, and I liked most of the characters. But I also didn't like some things. I did not like that the whole plot was on the back cover of the book :\

The plot was kind of great, I do like to read about withces, and I loved that the main character was gay (A) I really enjoyed reading about Trey, and I liked the romance, I just wished there had been more. And that they didn't have so many problems to be together :\

I had some trouble reading the first 100 pages or so, was a little bored, but after that the book got much more interesting, and hard to put down. Which is why I'm giving it a 3.5 star :) Even though I did have a few issues with the writing, it wasn't that bad.

And I simply cannot wait to read the next books in this series :D Was worried this was only one book, considering how it ended. Wasn't too happy about that. But I'm really excited about the next one :)

Don't want to give too much away, but you should pick up this book :) Because it is a great read.

The Book I Am Thankful For

The book I am most thankful for is Divergent by Veronica Roth. To me, it is the best book out there. It is the book that always makes me happy, the book I could read all the time without getting bored. I also like the author, Veronica, very much. She is one of the kindest persons. I adore her. Divergent was also the book that made me look for Dystopia books at all times, and I am very thankful for that. Since it made me fall in love with so many great books :)

Book News: Timepiece by Myra McEntire + Movie News!

Myra McEntire finally revealed the Timepiece (Hourglass 2) ARC book cover for us :D And isn't it amazing? <3 I love it. Although it wasn't supposed to be out until March 2012, but someone was evil and leaked it. But then Myra was kind enough to officially share the HQ cover with us. <3

She says on her blog: "but be aware that it's the ARC cover only, and is not final. Lissy Laricchia is the photographer (also for HOURGLASS)- and is she mad talented or what?

Myra also had some other amazing news to share with us all. The HOURGLASS books have been optioned for feature film by TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX. And oh! That is just SO EXCITING! Hourglass is just such an amazing book, and I can't wait to see it come to (movie) life! More about it here.

I just wanted to share this with you, and my thoughts on it :) Now you really must check out what Myra had to say about it in her blog post, right HERE. <3

Waiting on Wednesday #2

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

INSURGENT BY VERONICA ROTH

Goodreads Description:

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.

Review: Legend by Marie Lu

This is most definitely one of the best books I have read. It was simply amazing. So, so good. A MUST buy when it comes out in the end of November. I will need several copies of it ;)

It held me captured from the first page. The plot was amazing. And the writing was so good. I loved that each chapter was Day, and then June, and so on. It made it very interesting. And I loved both their voices. The story was never boring. Not even for a second.

I was very sad about a few deaths, but it did not ruin the story for me. It simply made it better. And it made me feel so much more for the characters. The world it was set in was so great, and kind of beliveable.

I simply adored Day. I liked June at first, but then I hated her, and then I ended up loving her :) I did not like Thomas at all. Not even in the beginning. But I did like Tess :) And John. And Eden. And Metias. And Ollie. Hih (A) <3

So much happened in this book. Feel like I can't say too much about it, without giving it away, so I'm just going to say that you MUST read it! And find out for yourself :)

I was so lucky to win this ARC from Claire Legrand. <3 So thank you to her, and to the author for writing such an amazing story :)

Waiting on Wednesday #1

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

SHATTER ME BY TAHEREH MAFI

Goodreads Description:

Juliette hasn't touched anyone in exactly 264 days. The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal. As long as she doesn't hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don't fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war- and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she's exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior.

Cover Reveal: Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake

Oh my god. This cover is just.. SO BEAUTIFUL! I love it. And I seriously can not wait for this book! It is the sequel to Anna Dressed in Blood, which I reviewed right here.

This is what Kendare said in her blog post:

"There's no official release date yet, but I wasn't waiting! I love just about everything about this, and I hope you do too! It's from the same team as the first cover. Once again, their talent has boggled me. I'm boggled for the day. I was going to do an actual journal entry now, but you know, eff it. I'm too boggled. My brain is just reds and ghosts and bare feet."

Don't you just love it?

Review: The Near Witch by Victoria Schwab

This story is worth a 4 star at least, the characters too, but I didn't like the writing so much. Therefore, to me, it is only a three star. But don't let that fool you, because this was a very great book :)

I loved the plot, the witches, and the old time it was set in. I also really liked Lexi. She was strong, and kind, and just awesome. And her little sister, Wren, was just too adorable. I also kind of liked her mother. She would have been more amazing back when her father was there.

I did however, not like Otto at all. And I HATED Tyler. Very much. Otto got a tiny, tiny bit better at the ending, but that did not excuse what he did at all. And I hated the ending Tyler got. He should not have been living. Not saying why though, because that would be spoilery ;)

I did love Cole though. <3 But I am sad that we never learned his real name. I also wish he wasn't so.. skinny (A) But that don't really matter. Because he was kind, and protective, and so cute. I found the almost romance to be very sweet. Just wished there was more :)

Overall, this is a book worth reading. And if you haven't done so yet, then you really should :)

Welcome!

Welcome to my new book blog. I wrote a new blog post before posting all my reviews; right here.
I am now posted all the reviews I have written, although I have read many more books, but back then I hadn't started writing reviews, and I need to re-read some books before I can write a decent review of it :) If you want to, you can check out all the books I have read over at my goodreads profile, which you can find to the right ;p

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. And I hope you will come back soon :)

Review: The Pledge by Kimberly Derting

I first heard of this book because of the amazing cover it has. And also because I knew of the author; Kimberly. I loved her The Body Finder series, so I was sure this book would be amazing. And oh, it was. It doesn't come out for a little while more, but I got to read it via S&S's Galley Grab.

I adored this book. It was simply amazing. I loved the world it was set in; as I love most all dystopian books, this was not an exeption. I very much liked the main character, Charlie. And her little sister Angelina, she was just so adorable. <3 I wasn't too fond of Brooklynn, but she wasn't that bad ;p

I very much loved Max though. Loved him from the first moment he arrived. Just wish Charlie hadn't been so closed off to him in the beginning (A) but I still loved it. I found the mystery surronding Charlie's background and Max's background to be very exciting and interesting. I won't say more about it though, because it would be a huge spoiler :D

I was kind of happy with how it ended; but it makes me even more happy to know that The Pledge will be a trilogy! :D Because I felt like the romance between Charlie and Max wasn't explored much, wished there could have been more kisses, etc :) Although in my eyes, the ending was very near perfection. <3

Just so you know, if you haven't pre-ordered The Pledge yet, then you must do so! Because, oh, it will be so worth it. <3 I can't wait to read it again when my copy arrives in November :)

Thank you so much to S&S's Galley Grab for the chance to read it early. <33

Update: Newer and better review of the book can be found here.

Review: Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

WARNING: There will be a few almost mayor spoilers in this review.

I loved this book. I loved it more than Hush, Hush. Which I found very weird, since I was expecting to not like it very much; considering Nora's memory loss. And the lack of Patch in the beginning. But oh, I am very glad to be wrong. I loved it all. Well, except for Scott. Never liked him.

I prepared for this book by re-reading Hush, Hush this week, and I was planning to re-read Crescendo too, but I really kind of disliked that book; so I didn't feel brave enough to read it again right now. Kind of regret not doing it, but not really. :)

I never liked Marcie, but I liked her a bit better by the end of this book. Kind of. Silence made me dislike Vee, though.. But maybe that will change in the fourth book! :D

I was expecting to find the first 200+ pages boring; but I really liked them. Even if there wasn't much Patch. And Nora without her memories. I found it interesting, and I wanted to keep reading at all times. So that was a very nice surprise :)

I am not going to spoil you, but oh, I LOVED HOW THE BOOK ENDED! The last couple of chapters. They were so good. Am very happy there will be a fourth book though; since there were many things that were left.. unclosed. I just hope Patch and Nora will get to be together for the whole book :)

Anyway, you MUST read this book. Because it is amazing.

Review: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

I just finished reading this book for the second time; to get ready for Silence :) I think I liked it even more this time around; since I have read so many books after the first time.

I love Patch the most in these books, he is kind of.. perfect. I like the whole bad boy thing he has going ;) And I really, really love the fallen angel thing. Found that to be very appealing and interesting. I have no good way to describe Patch, other than the fact that I love him. So much.

I kind of like Nora, at least in the first book, hate her in the second though. But she isn't as bad in this one :) And I just adore Patch and Nora together. <3 I also really like Vee, kind of. She was awesome, except for the parts where she was hating on Patch ;p but that wasn't entirely her fault, so I forgive her for that.

I really loved the plot line. And the plot will get better later on, except for the parts I found to be most important :\

I don't want to say too much about this book, but I really did love it. And I know that you will too :) So if you haven't read it yet, get to it!

Review: The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson

I am giving this book a 3.5 star. Although it is more a 4 star, than a 3 star.
Warning: This review will contain a few small spoilers. Just so you know :)

I have so many different feelings about this book. Firstly, I really loved the plot line. The whole ghost killing Jack the Ripper thing. It kept me interested, and it creeped me out at times. Which I really liked.

What I didn't like however, was the lack of romance. I loved Jerome. And there could have been a great romance between him and Rory, which there kind of was. I just really hated that she never described ANY of the kissing scenes. They just.. kissed. And that, to me, is not enough. Should have been so much more described. What I mean is that she didn't describe anything about their kiss. At all. And I hated that.

And oh, how I hated the school. Didn't see the point of it, really. And it felt so much like a prison, and that I do not like. Also there was many time jumps between the murders that I wish wasn't there. In those time jumps there could have been more romance.

I did however love Jazza. And I kind of didn't like Boo at all. She made me hate her in the beginning, and because of that I just didn't grow to love her much. And one thing I hated the most, was that Rory seemed to care more for Stephen than Jerome. Which doesn't make sense at all. And it just made me sad. And angry. So, yeah, wish that didn't happen.

I am most likely going to read the next book though, since it seems like this will be a series? Hope so. But I also know that if it happens that Rory is with Stephen in any way in the next books, I will not read them. Or enjoy them. Because I love Jerome very much, and oh, I just wish Rory would have told him the truth at the end. And I hope they will have a relationship in the next books.

Anyway, this book is worth reading because of the plot, even though the romance kind of sucked. :)

Review: Fateful by Claudia Gray

When I started reading this book today, (September 22nd), I thought it would make me want to re-watch Titanic. Since it's been ages since I saw it last. But then my heart started hurting with the description of the sinking, and that made me realize I am not ready to watch the movie yet.

Back to the book, I would rate this book with 3,5 stars. Although it could have been worth 4,5 if the writing had been better. But that might be my own fault for reading this book right after finishing one of the best books (A) I just didn't enjoy the writing. Even though I did love Claudia's Evernight series. This just didn't feel as real as other books I have read.

I did however, really like the plot. And I loved Tess. Alec the most though :) I just didn't feel as conected to them as I had hoped. The story was great, with Tess being a servant, and Alec being a werewolf. I just wish I had liked the writing more. And it doesn't have anything to do with the time set the book is in, because that was done nicely, I think. Didn't really like that Tess was so scared through most of the book, although I do kind of think that was a normal reaction for her to have.

I don't want to spoil the book, but I did like it. I liked everything that it ended with. What touched me the most with the whole book, was the last 20+ pages. Because that felt very real to me. Uhm, apart from one thing that happened at the very end. Didn't seem like it could happen at all. But then, what do I know of werewolves? ;) Anyway, you should read it :) And I hope there will be a sequel. <3

Review: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

One word to describe my feelings about this book: Love.
I really loved this book. Been waiting a long time for it, and when my ARC finally arrived, I started reading it right away. And it did not disappoint.

I really liked Mara, she was funny, strong and so much more. And her family was so awesome. Well, not her mother. Didn't like her at all ;p But I loved Daniel, her older brother. And her younger brother, Joseph, was just too adorable. I also really liked Jamie, and I wished he was in the book more :) Hope he will be in the sequel.

The plot was really great too, although if I had been unsure about what was real, and what was a dream I would have gone mad. But I still enjoyed reading it. Which is kind of weird. The book made me shake so many times, and it made me smile so much too.

What I loved the most though, was Noah. Noah Shaw. He was just.. perfect. And not too perfect either, he was a bit broken, which I so, so loved. But oh, he was so funny, and kind, and cute, and damn it. I want my own Noah!

There was this one thing I kind of disliked. SPOILER: IT TOOK THEM UNTIL ABOUT PAGE 380 TO KISS) Hih, yeah, wish that had happened a little earlier :)

Also, the ending killed me. It made me speculate so much about what will happen in book two, and what happened in book one. There is just one thing I do not want to happen. And I don't know why I thought of it either, since I do not really think it can happen. Not gonna say why, though :D That would be a very huge spoiler.

My biggest wish though, it that there will be so much more Noah in the next one. Wish that more than anything :)

Bottom line, you NEED to buy this book. It is amazing. The best. (After Divergent) But Divergent doesn't really count, because these books where very different :) I have pre-ordered two hardcover copies of Mara Dyer, and I can't wait to get them both. <3 And read it again in a little over a week. When it finally arrives.

I got this ARC from Michelle Hodkin :)
<3

Update: Newer and better review of the book can be found here.

Review: Dead Rules by Randy Russell

WARNING: A few HUGE spoilers in this review :) So if you don't want to know everything this book is about, do not read this review. Just read the book, because it is amazing :)

I kind of loved this book. It was awesome. I did like Jana, mostly. Just didn't like the way she felt about Michael. Hih. Especially considering he was a total ass. But then, maybe he wasn't so bad towards her. Even if he did sleep with someone else behind her back. And when she thought they would be together forever.

But I can also understand why she was like that, I mean, he was the first person in her life that cared about her. She had no father, and her mother wasn't around. She only had her Ken. And I really did like him :) But that is also too little. So of course she would love with all her heart when she found the "perfect one". It just really sucks that that love would get her killed :p

I did like the whole third person point of view thing :) Liked getting to know the other characters, how they died, etc. What I loved the most though was Mars. He was so amazing! Wish he was mine. <3 And I wish more than anything that there would be another book, since it only ended with Jana having fallen for him. I wish we got to read more about their love and relationship :)

Review: Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake

I loved this book. Oh, did I love it. WARNING: This review might contain some spoilers. But if you don't mind that, you should read what I have to say about it :)

I have been waiting many months for this book, ever since I first saw the cover. Because, really, have you seen it? IT IS GORGEOUS! That was when I knew I needed it. Then I read the summary, and I just wanted it even more. So I pre-ordered it. And then tried to put it out of my mind until the release date was here. Otherwise I would just make myself sad thinking about it, when I didn't have it (A)

And then today (September 3rd) it finally arrived! And boy, was I happy. The book cover is stunning, and the text in the book is awesome. I just love everything about it.

Back to the book. I love that the story is from a boy's POV, because he is just so amazing. I adore Cas. Or Cassio, like Anna calls him :) I found the plot to be very good, I kind of love ghost stories. Hih. And this was a great ghost story. I loved all the characters, even the cat. Which now saddens me.

The story is a bit creepy, but I loved it. Am a tiny bit sad about how it all ended, but also glad. Because it ended with the promise of a next book :D And that I cannot wait for. I need more Cas. <3 And more Thomas. And more Carmel. And more of everything. Mostly I want more of Anna and Cas. Really hope there is more in the next one :)

Bottom line: YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK! And that is final. It is amazing. <3
Thank you Kendare, for writing this fabulous book.

Update: Newer and better review of the book can be found here.

Review: Divergent by Veronica Roth

This is the best book I have ever read. And I have read a whole lot of books. I love the dystopia world it is in, it seems so real at times. And I actually love the main character, Beatrice “Tris” Prior. Finally a heroine that I love and do not want to punch :)

But my biggest love in this book, is Four. In Tris eyes, he may not sound that kind in the beginning, but I can’t help but love him from the moment he arrives. And boy, does that love improve. He just keeps getting better and better.

This book does kill me at times, it’s heartbreaking, funny, romantic and in between. If I had been in that world, I have a feeling I would be Dauntless, too :) Even though I’m not that brave. But no other faction would fit me.

The book ends in a good way, at least, kind of. Even though there will be two more books, and I can’t wait to read them, it’s not like I need it right away though, because of the ending :) But I really, really, really need it still, because I must know what happens next to Tris and Four.

Anyway, I loved this book, and I am positive you will too. It’s just that amazing. There is love, but no love triangle. Which I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love :)

I haven't written a long review of Divergent, because I do not want to spoil it for anyone. Everyone should read it. And experience the love themself. I have so far read Divergent 4 times. And I am positive I will read it so many more times. <3

Update: Newer and better review of the book can be found here.
